Kathmandu Durbar Square - Your knowledgeable English-speaking tour guide will meet you at your hotel at 10:30 am with a luxurious vehicle to take you on a 7-hour sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Valley, including Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, and Pashupatinath.
First, visit Kathmandu Durbar Square. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kathmandu Durbar Square is one of three Durbar Squares in the Kathmandu Valley. Despite some buildings collapsing after the devastating earthquake on April 25th, 2015, you can still admire the stunning art and architecture of the ancient Malla and Shah dynasties. It is also known as Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square, named after the statue of Hanuman at the entrance of the ancient royal palace.
Swoyambhu Mahachaitya - Next, head to Swayambhunath. Also known as the “Monkey Temple,” Swayambhunath is situated on a small hillock to the west of Kathmandu city. It is a sacred site for Buddhist pilgrims from around the world. The large eyes painted on the four sides of the main stupa symbolize wisdom and compassion, while the dome at the base represents the entire world. Although Swayambhunath was also affected by the earthquake of April 25th, 2015, you can still observe the art and architecture that dates back to the early 5th century.
Boudhanath Stupa - Then, proceed to Boudhanath Stupa. Located on the northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu, Boudhanath is the largest stupa in the world and a sacred site for Buddhist pilgrims. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979, Boudhanath lies on the ancient trade route between Nepal and Tibet. The stupa is said to enshrine the remains of Kassapa Buddha. Founded by the Licchivi King, Boudhanath sustained minor damage from the earthquake on April 25th, 2015.
Pashupatinath Temple - Afterward, visit Pashupatinath. This sacred Hindu shrine is located on the banks of the Bagmati River on the eastern side of Kathmandu. Believed to have been built by Supuspa Deva, a Licchivi King, Pashupatinath was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. The main temple, constructed in the Pagoda style, features four main doors, copper roofs with gold coating, and a gold pinnacle. The inner sanctum houses the main idol, while the outer sanctum is an open corridor-like space. Although some buildings in the Pashupati area were damaged, the main temple remained untouched by the earthquake of April 25th, 2015.

Guided Sightseeing of Panauti and Namobuddha
Panauti Museum - Begin your day trip as your expert guide picks you up from your hotel lobby at 10:30 am. By 11:30 am, you will reach Panauti, your first sightseeing spot of the day. Visit Brahmayani Temple as you cross the Rosi and Punyamati rivers. You might encounter lines of mourners making their way to the funeral ghats. Continue sightseeing at Indreshwor Temple and Unmatta Bhairav Temple. Observe various idols of Hindu gods and goddesses, as well as wood carvings on struts and torans around the Indreshwor Temple area.
Namobuddha Monastery - Then drive to Namobuddha at 1:30 pm and start your sightseeing upon arrival. According to legend, a young prince saw a weak and hungry tigress lying on the ground with her small cubs during a hunting tour in the area. The prince, seeing that the tigress and her cubs were starving but had nothing to offer immediately, eventually fed his own flesh and blood to the starving tiger family. That young prince was, of course, the little Buddha. Commemorating this great story, there is a famous shrine and stone slab depicting the history on top of a hill, offering a great panorama of the Himalayas and the surrounding villages. At 4:30 pm, drive back to Kathmandu. Your tour concludes as your guide drops you off at your hotel.
