Additional Information

The Namobuddha Panauti Day Hike provides an excellent opportunity to explore a holy location and experience traditional villages situated in the southeastern region of Kathmandu City.

Namo Buddha, a name that alludes to Lord Buddha, notably hosts a well-conserved, striking monastery atop a hill. The aura around the monastery is palpable with its positive energy. The sense of calm is so profound that it discourages any disruptions.

Panauti, a quintessential town in the Kavre district, has managed to retain its traditional culture despite being conveniently an hour’s drive from Kathmandu by vehicle.

While hiking throughout the day, you can gain insights into the conventional lifestyle of the dominant Newar communities. Besides the Newars, Tamang, Magar, and numerous Aryan groups also inhabit the region.

All things considered, Panauti serves as a captivating place to delve into and peruse local history.

Holy Hike to the Monastery - If you like hiking, this is the way to go. My tour guide and I started hiking pass so many trees, small villages, steep steps, potato fields, small temple, muddy trails, birds chirping, prayer flags and the breathtaking overview of the nice village. It was a 5 miles hike to get to the monastery. Was it worth it? Absolutely! Bring water and a hat and don’t forget to stop and enjoy the view!
