- こどもわがし・オトナワガシ・Otona WAGASHI - In this course, you will learn about the history and culture of Japanese wagashi, understanding how it influences modern wagashi-making. Wagashi is deeply rooted in Japanese culture, seasons, and various celebrations, and by learning its background, you can enjoy wagashi more deeply.
You will learn the essential skills necessary for wagashi-making. Using pre-prepared dough provided by the instructor, you will practice the steps from cutting shapes, shaping, to decorating. Through hands-on practice, you will master these basic techniques, nurturing confidence in creating beautiful wagashi. The recipe for making the dough will be provided to you.
Under the guidance of the instructor, you will create wagashi yourself. Through hands-on practice, you will learn the steps and tips while enjoying the wagashi you’ve made. This practical experience will help you appreciate the joy of wagashi-making.
Enjoy the finished wagashi with matcha. The combination of wagashi and matcha is part of Japan’s traditional tea culture and offers a special experience of savoring delicious wagashi. We will also introduce how to enjoy matcha.

This class is for anyone who would like to experience the art of wagashi-making, (Wagashi is a general term for Japanese Sweets)
The purpose of this class is to familiarize you with Japanese sweets making and we will have lots of fun making them, even if they are not perfect!
You will also get to know the history and culture behind mochi and other traditional sweets.
After the class you will be able to taste your creations with a bowl of Matcha tea for the Nerikiri Wagashi class.
