Amazing day at akagera - First time in Kigali and first time at Akagera National Park. It was amazing! Our tour guide Ben was the best tour guide we could ask for. He was very accommodating, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Very funny guy and knows the ins and outs of the park. Definitely would recommend. Thank you Ben for a wonderful experience!

A Tour guide was born - What a memorable day exploring the Akagera National park to catch the big 5 or how we like to call them the big 5 and the medium 5. Our tour guide was a very professional and knowledgeable young man. A walking Wikipedia with the necessary tools of an expert safari guide; binoculars and encyclopedias. I did other safaris later and looking back, I can see the high quality of the one in Akagera! I learned so so much about animals, wildlife, Rwanda and its fauna that on other tours I could easily take the role of a guide just by sharing the information I learned on this 1day game drive. we felt comfortable and in good hands, he always respected our wish if we wanted to make small changes to the original plan. All in all, big thank you! 🙏🏼

A really memorable and enjoyable day trip! - My driver was exceptional. He knew all the names of the birds and the trees. He stopped whenever I was interested in anything and I was interested in everything. What struck me most was the abundance of birds and butterflies. The boat ride was exceptional also. A young male elephant decided to wade out into the lake for breakfast. It seemed unfazed by our presence. That was probably the closest I've ever been to an elephant. Be sure to talk to Innocent who is the captain of the boat as he is so nice and knowledgeable about the wildlife. I purchased his book at the gift store about the elephant orphans. I was so happy this day trip was possible. It is a long day, so be prepared. The driver does stop often to stretch your legs and to use the toilet. One thing I should have prepared for was the insects. There are tsetse flies and mosquitoes and I should have sprayed insecticide on my body. I saw about every animal possible except the elusive lion. There is a large savannah at the north end of the park and it was like a scene from the movies. You could see giraffe, impala, rhinos, elephants all together. It was really a memorable and enjoyable trip!

In the rainy season it rains - but still a great trip! - Tito was a brilliant guide and driver - and it was a long day. Half way through there was a thunderstorm, making the route impossible, but heading back the way we came meant we saw elephant, which we’d missed going in. A great day trip.

Safari with some extra adventures - It was a great day and a great tour with Olivier and our tour guide Dominique. I had a tour with Olivier last sunday, which happened to be during the rainy season, so the tour was with some extra adventures - i.e. getting stuck in the mud next to savannah and having a short-to-medium walk to the car once it got pushed out of the mud with the help of park employees. However, Oliver and Dominique remained calm and managed the situation in a very professional manner and everything was solved without any major issues. I guess major takeaway here would be to be extra careful during the rainy season and perhaps try to time your visit on a month with low rainfall. The safari itself, needless to say, was amazing - we saw elephants, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, zebras, baboons, Pumba & Timon, buffalos, python, antelopes and other animals. We only missed out on the lions due to getting stuck, but I'd be happy to come back again for them and I would go with Olivier again, who was very helpful and nice throughout. Also big compliments to our tour guide Dominique, who was extremely knowledgeable about all of the animals and patiently answered all of my questions about animal hunting and drinking patterns and more :)
