Highlights
  • Silverking Lodge - At Clover Pass, you’ll meet your captain and first mate before stepping aboard an enclosed jet boat, the Miss Cindy. Prepare for a thrilling water adventure as your captain navigates through bays and inlets, while your narrator gives you insights on the land, the air, and the sea. Aboard the boat, you will have the opportunity to see the abundant wildlife of southeast Alaska, such as eagles, porpoises, and seals. From May through September, whales are often sighted along the tour route. Silverking’s exclusive elevated boardwalk trail allows you to walk into the normally difficult to access rainforest. Discover it’s secrets like Old Man’s Beard and nursery trees. At the end of the trail, be sure to have your camera ready for the largest known red cedar in the Tongass National Forest. Then, venture back to the lodge for a seafood boil including Dungeness crab, shrimp, mussels, clams, sausage, corn, garlic, pearl onions, and french bread.

Pleasant encounter - The staff were all very friendly. Gus, our driver, was very engaged. Even though there was an accident involving one of the other busses, they ensured we were able to complete our full excursion and got us back to our cruise ship in plenty of time. Bridger, the guide, dropped several tidbits of information. The seafood boil lunch at the Silver King Lodge was tasty and SO filling. The walking tour of the Frank Hendershot Memorial Trail was stunning. So glad we were able to enjoy that. We also spotted some seals on our back tour before we got back to the docks, which is apparently a rare encounter.

Candi and Company are an Amazing Tour Group!! - From the moment that Candi agreed to accommodate me when I needed to change my tour time, in order to get my flight, I knew that I was in great company! She and her cute dog drove out of their way to pick me up because there would be no bus available for my new time. When I arrived at the tour site, I was treated like a dear friend. They were so hospitable as we waited for the tour to start. Speaking of the tour, Justin was fantastic! He was so knowledgeable, funny, energetic and personable! I don't know how he did it but he made everyone feel equally important. As we traveled by boat out to the Silver Lodge, he gave us great information about the sites as we passed them. He pointed out an eagle's nest; talked about the submarine testing site as we passed by; and pointed out a crowd of seals! Captain Sonny was very accommodating as he slowed down and sped up in perfect harmony with Justin's monologs. We walked an easy hike through the Lodge backwoods, on a wooden boardwalk. Then, oh my, that seafood! It was fantastic! On the way back to our start, we saw a seal eating fish near the dock! That was a bonus moment to end with!!

It just got better and better! - We did this trip as part of cruise excursion and truly had no idea what to expect. The boat trip, admirably narrated by a young member of the Silver King lodge family, was tremendous fun and very informative- we saw otters, bald eagles and an eagles nest as well as the US navy marine testing facility. The trip around the boardwalk in the rainforest was beautiful again escorted and narrated appropriately. The sea feast was amazing- seated around tables covered in newspaper we shared in a feast of Alaskan crab, shrimp, clams, mussels, garlic, Yukon potatoes and corn just upended on the table in front of us - with napkins, claw crackers and loads of relishes, sauces and unlimited drinks. We al had such fun!

It was worth it! - Our Tour Guide, Diggs, was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was really good at improvising and encouraged questions. We saw Bald Eagles hunting frozen fish, a nest, harbor seals and learned about sonar technology! It was the best experience on our cruise and the nice weather was a bonus. We even want to go back to the Silver King Lodge for fishing one day!

Absolutely worth it!!! - We had a truly awesome time on our trip! We were actually scheduled to do a similar trip but oddly they kept changing the departure time and eventually flaking on us entirely. We were recommended to try this one instead and we were beyond impressed. Great tour guide - boat was super spacious and we could hear everything (other boat experiences had charlie brown speaker "bwa bwa bwa bwa" issues) he shared with us. The walk through the woods was really awesome - it was a custom made wooden walkway for the length of it that terminated in a massive 1500+ year old cedar tree). And the crab pot boil... OH-EM-GEE... So much food for our table, so incredibly tasty, and so much more than we could possibly eat... And to finish off with a soft, warm chocolate chip cookie... Talk about a religious experience. We love this tour! Best one of our Alaskan cruise!!! ♥️

Best excursion!!! - My husband and I had an absolutely amazing time on this excursion. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Took the time to answer questions and give us a lot more of a background of what we were seeing. Highly recommend this to tour!

It was a nice relaxing tour. Seafood meal was good. - Let me start with the price of the excursion, yes it’s pricy, but… it’s in Alaska, everything except seafood has to be shipped or flown in including fuel. I have no complaints about the price, no one made me go, it’s a voluntary sightseeing boat ride and lunch. Diggs, the tour guide (seen in the picture inside the boat) was absolutely great. Very polite, knowledgeable, and very upbeat. Diggs got the Eagles attention, then threw some fish into the water. This was a good photo opportunity, Eagles everywhere! We went for a boat ride, and saw the same wildlife as on their website. They served us what was called andouille sausage, but it was smoked sausage. I’m from Louisiana, and know the difference lol. The seafood lunch was good. They served as Dungeness crab, shrimp, muscles, and clams. They also served corn, onions, and garlic with the meal. My only issue is they the boat captain passed a whale on top of the water at full speed, and didn’t slow down or point it out. That’s why we’re there right? He said that he didn’t see it. The nature trail is awesome ! Big shout out to Diggs! He is a great young man!

Don’t trust - Changed our scheduled time to an earlier time to close to our ship arrival for us to make it on time. Even though we called and notified tour we might be late we were left behind after being told they would wait. We were only 10 minutes late and called several times letting them know our status in getting to shore.
