Highlights
  • Sourdough Cocktail Bar - Also known as The Shipwreck Bar. This is a favorite spot for the Fishing Fleet to enjoy a drink and share tales. We’ll try a house specialty or brew and admire the fascinating wall of shame featuring shipwrecked boats. You’ll also see impressively large trophy fish and crabs mounted on the walls.
  • Creek Street - Historic Red Light District along the picturesque Ketchikan Creek - an excellent spot for photos and watching the salmon swim upstream to spawn. Along the way, you’ll hear stories of Ketchikan’s colorful past, see historic buildings, and have time to stretch your legs on the relatively flat sidewalks through town.
  • Dolly’s House Museum - A representation of the types of businesses that once lined this boardwalk street in earlier years.
  • Potlatch Bar - Walk the Fishing Fleet docks to learn about the various types of fishing boats, meet some fishermen, hear some fishing tales, then head up to a classic fishermen’s favorite hangout to sample the house specialty or enjoy a cold brew…with more stories, of course!

A time we will always remember! - Wife and I, the time we spent together with Terry Tour's Tales and Ales is a time we will always remember! Terry and his wife Judy gave us a real life look at Ketchikan yesterday and now! A few days after our tour we received a wonderful video replay of our time with Tales and Ales. We would strongly recommend Terry Tours Gary, Sherrie

Fun Tour- New Friends - Met the McFaddens at an over the water, indoor/outdoor (only one in Ketchikan) grill and bar. They twisted my arm in to going on their walking tour of the fishing fleet and pubs in town. It turned out to be the most fun, and informative tour I took during my 2 weeks in Alaska! I really felt I had gained a lot of unique knowledge and perspective about the Alaskan fishing community, town history, and special photo opportunities during the tour. Most of all I had made some new friends of the tour guides and owners, the McFaddens- who truly make this tour a unique and special opportunity get in to the real personality of this special community.

Awesome Tour - I didn't know what to expect but was looking for a tour that would introduce me to the locals and learn about something new. This tour did just that. I learned about the different ways they fish for salmon and halibut in Alaska, got to meet local fishermen, see the boats up close, and toured the town too. I got a lot out of this 90 minute tour including a couple of beers in the local fishermen's bars. Awesome tour!
