Amazing safari experience - solo female traveller - I used Lion Safaris on the recommendation of a friend, to do a tailored 3-day safari in Akagera including driving to/from Kigali. Amazing experience not only from the point of view of it being my first safari and seeing a huge range of animals, but I particularly want to note appreciation for Emile my driver. As a solo female traveller it's really important to feel at ease, and Emile was absolutely a gentleman throughout. He was super knowledgeable about about the animals in the park, the wider country, and how Rwanda fits into international current affairs and generally really interesting to talk to / learn from. He was extremely respectful while we spent the better part of three days driving around, and eg went out of his way to make me feel comfortable by finding clean toilets, liaising with my lodge that I'd booked separately to make sure everything ran smoothly, etc. He was also an excellent guide for finding animals - we were apparently the first to see an elephant on our main game drive day, despite (on my request) setting off considerably later than most other tourists. Highly recommend, the experience was everything I'd hoped for.
