Great Day at the Gap of Dunloe - The Gap of Dunloe Adventure Day Tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Ireland. It was a wonderful way to see the Lakes of Killarney, the Black Valley and the beautiful mountains. Our tour started at the wooden bridge near Ross Castle where we met a tour representative. The bridge is located next to a parking lot with ample free parking. The first part of the adventure was a boat trip through one of the lakes of Killarney. The boatman was knowledgeable and humorous. At the end of that lake we met another tour representative who directed us on a brief hike to meet the boat for the next part of the tour. It was nice to have the opportunity to stretch our legs and see another part of Killarney National Park. After another scenic boat ride we had a lunch break at Lord Brandon's cottage, We enjoyed our sandwiches and sodas= cash only. A tour representative directed us to our pony and trap jaunting cart. It was a fun and unique experience with beautiful views the whole way. A tour representative met us at Kate Kearney;s cottage and drove us back to Ross Castle in a mini van. I was very pleased with the customer service provided by Tangney Tours/ Killarney Jaunting Cars. The tour was seamless. There was always a tour representative near when you needed to be directed to the next step of the tour. I chose this tour because it was all inclusive and the tour brought you back to where your car was parked. Highly recommend this tour and the company.

Beautiful place. But the rain was torturous - The daunting car ride was great. Great way to see the valley. We are lucky to be sharing the ride with a nice german couple. It will be good to enable us to just book a car to ourselves. It will be extremely uncomfortable sharing it with nasty strangers….. especially if they are much bigger then us….

Our FAVORITE! - Everyone in our group of 5 (3 adults, 2 kids) agreed that this was the BEST activity we did in our entire 10 day trip to Ireland. It really is an adventure! However, we started out on a sunny day, and naively did not bring our raincoats. Of course, when we were out on the water in the boat it started raining ... a lot!... and we got pretty soaked, which was the only negative part. (Read: Bring a raincoat no matter what your weather app says!). But in many ways the rain added to the fun and adventure of it all! At one point the water was too low for the boat to get through, so we had to get out and walk a little bit down river, which we enjoyed, as it was a nice little hike. We then stopped at Lord Brandon's Cottage, and we were very glad to have listened to the Trip Advisor reviews that told us to BRING CASH, as they cannot get wifi in that location to take cards. We all got the soup with soda bread, which was truly delicious, especially on a rainy day! My husband got an Irish Coffee as well, which he loved. From there we took the pony and trap ride through the Gap of Dunloe. We were laughing the whole way in the rain and gasping at the gorgeous views. Even in the rain, it was spectacularly beautiful. The pony went fast and the ride was bumpy, which made it feel like a roller coaster of sorts as we went up and down the hills, which my kids LOVED. It was much more dynamic than a regular horse and carriage ride. All the guides were great and gave us lots of interesting information and history throughout. HIGHLY RECOMMEND - just bring a raincoat!

The best tour I have ever taken ! - This tour was so well organized from start to finish. The scenery is nothing short of spectacular and getting to know local guides made our day. We had ages 14-72 in our 7 person family and we all loved it! Our guides Patrick and his horse Dolly were the BEST!!!!

Great Way To See Killarney - I opted for the full day Gap of Dunloe Adventure Tour. Laura, the fifth generation owner of the company, met the group at Ross Castle and provided an overview of what to expect on the tour. From there, a taxi took us to Kate Kearney’s Cottage, where our jarvey Tom and his horse Rosie took us by jaunting car over The Gap of Dunloe. We had to get off the jaunting car a couple of times during the steep incline sections to give Rosie a break. This was fine because it made it easier to take pictures of the beautiful scenery. When we finished crossing the gap and arrived at Lord Brandon’s Cottage, we took a lunch break. If you take this tour, remember to bring cash because they don’t accept credit cards at the cottage. After lunch, we started the second part of our tour, a trip across all three Killarney Lakes aboard a small open boat to enjoy more glorious scenery. We also saw deer on shore along the way. Our guide—unfortunately, I don’t recall his name—regaled us with information about the lakes and entertaining stories laced with humor and a generous amount of Killarney blarney. At one point, we had to exit the boat and walk across a forest path to meet our guide at a later point because a portion of the lake was to shallow to ride across with passengers. We then get back on board the boat and finished the trip, which ended at the Ross Castle pier. This is a wonderful way to see the best of Killarney scenery from two different vantage points. I highly recommend it, though, as the company website says, it’s not for anyone with mobility issues.
