This park is also home to bird species like the Nilgiri verditer flycatcher and Kerala laughing thrush. The Neelakurinji plant, which blooms once every twelve years, is endemic to this part of the Western Ghats.

Spend the afternoon touring Thekkady, including a visit to The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, a thick evergreen forest declared a Tiger Reserve in 1978.
