Koka Ninja House
—This is the only remaining authentic Ninja House, featuring various tricks such as a revolving door, a hidden second floor, an escape tunnel, and an overly heavy sliding door. You can also try throwing Shuriken here. Closed on Wednesdays. (Visit Ninja Village if closed.)

Ninja Center
—A PR facility dedicated to Ninjas, showcasing numerous displays of Ninja weapons, clothing, documents, and more. Closed on Mondays.

Twin Castles
—Nestled in the woods, these castles are listed as National Historic Sites and were built over 450 years ago.

Ninja-themed Restaurant
—Offers a wide variety of dishes. The second floor features an impressive Ninja display room.

Guide’s house
—The guide’s house is a traditional Japanese home. Here, we will make coffee using a Ninja’s medicine-making method. The guide’s wife will also teach you how to write your name in Japanese katakana characters, and you will create a name tag as a souvenir.

Ninja’s sacred training mountain, Mt. Iwao
—Along the route, we will encounter rock Buddha statues, uniquely shaped large rocks, and beautiful lakes from the peak. Ninjas used this mountain for secret training.

The tour concludes at JR Konan station.

Why not take a day trip from Kyoto to Koka City, the hometown of the Ninja?

Koka City, known for its Ninja heritage, is a serene and picturesque rural town, perfect for exploring by bicycle.

Before hiking up the Ninja training mountain, we’ll visit the Ninja House, Ninja Center, and the hidden Twin Castles. These are authentic Ninja sites you won’t find anywhere else.

In the afternoon, we’ll hike to the sacred Ninja training mountain, where it’s believed the Ninja honed their special fighting techniques.

This is the only tour that takes you to genuine Ninja locations, guided by a Ninja or a local Samurai descendant. It’s a truly unique experience.

During the cycling tour, your guide will capture some lovely photos of you.

If it rains, don’t worry—I have an alternative plan.

The itinerary can be customized to suit your preferences and schedule.

  • Participants must be able to ride a bicycle.
  • Minimum height requirement is 140 cm or higher.
  • Please wear comfortable shoes for hiking.
  • Mountain hiking is hilly, so children under 12 are not recommended.
Location
Kōnan Station
JR Konan Station is about 1 hour away from Kyoto station. Get on 8:21am train from Kyoto station from platform 0 (Platform 2 on Sat and Sun), and change trains at Kusatsu station to get on 8:56am train (8:59am train on Sat and Sun) from platform 1. It will arrive at JR Konan Station at 9:32am.
