During the last awakening of this volcano, the lake water bubbled up, boiled, and overflowed the coast. The main myth associated with the lake tells of two beautiful ancient Greek goddesses–Athena and Artemis the Huntress. They bathed and relaxed in the crystal waters of Voulismeni.
