Highlights
- Kourounochori - Cook with one of the most experienced chefs on the traditional food of Naxos, who keep the recipes from generation to generation. With her, you will try the experience of the traditional gastronomy of the island.
Once you have finished cooking and while your food is being cooked, Anna will take you for a tour of the village. You will see the Venetian tower, the table of Otto next to the large cistern, impressive orchards, and the flowery gardens of traditional houses
You will become part of our family and we will accompany you to the kitchen of our beautiful tavern, which keeps the traditional recipes of three generations.
Grigoris Tavern was started by grandfather Grigoris Vassilakis in 1964, as a traditional tavern/cafe of the village.
After we make our recipes, you will enjoy your labor with a delicious meal on the terrace overlooking the beautiful valley of Melanes!

You will meet us at our tavern in Kourounochori, Naxos. First, you will park your vehicle at the public parking lot of the village and you follow the road to come up to the village. After some meters, you will find the tavern and you will meet us right there

A truly Greek Cooking experience in the hills - The cooking experience at Gregory’s was incredible. Anna led us through many dishes and then we sat outside in her beautiful restaurant to sample it all. It is in a small village in the hills which adds to its charm - also a bit cooler up there - dishes are easy to manage and we will be trying them at home. It was my husbands 60th birthday and they brought out a cake for him - such a thoughtful touch! Great day recommend - a family run business that gives u the feel of the real Greece. 👏

Lovely experience and amazing food! - It was a great experience. Anna was very friendly and easy to talk to. I felt like a learnt a lot and am excited to try these recipes again at home. The town was beautiful and I loved the amazing view while enjoying the food. I would definitely recommend this course to others as a unique way to experience Naxos culture and cuisine.

A must-do experience in Naxos! - This cooking class was absolutely amazing. Anna was lovely and patiently guided us through each step of preparing and cooking traditional Greek food. The cooking class was lots of fun, made even better by enjoying our work while overlooking the nearby towns. I would absolutely reccomend this experience for anyone looking for an authentic Greek food experience in Naxos. Thank you so much Anna and Gregory’s Tavern!

A pleasant activity - A good idea to share with 2 than to prepare dishes, simple, easy. We enjoyed the explanations and tasting and left with our boxes for the next meals

Heavenly Food! - We loved Anna and we loved her cooking class! It was loads of fun. My wife and I had the best time. The recipes were simple but varied with lots of different kinds of technique and tasks. All the food was delicious but we are still dreaming about the orange pie. What a fun afternoon!

Great cooking class for the whole family. - Great experience for the whole family. We made delicious traditional dishes with a very engaging and experienced host, Anna. We had so much food we couldn’t eat it all! The location in the quaint hillside village was interesting to experience and had a great view of the nearby towns.

Beautiful Location and Wonderful People - We joined five other vacationers for the cooking class given by Anna at her family taverna. Together we made six Greek dishes under Anna’s expert guidance. We were given recipes and I feel very confident about making these items at home. The location of the taverna is beautiful and Anna took us on a walking tour of the village before we sat down to enjoy our dinner. We recommend this food tour highly!

Greek culture at its finest - This was an amazing experience! We highly recommend it! If you want to learn about the Greek culture then this is perfect for you! their hospitality was so welcoming. Anna and her mom were the epitome of Greek hospitality! After we cooked, We toured their quaint village. don’t miss this opportunity!

Wonderful family experience - Anna is a knowledgeable chef and delightful native of the village where she returned after culinary school in Athens. Our teen daughter and her friend found Anna to be very encouraging and loved the informative and beautiful tour of the village. Virtually all the ingredients were sourced from nearby terraces or elsewhere on the island (lamb raised by her father, potatoes grown by her boyfriend, goat cheese made by her mother). One of our group is vegan and she took care to have many delicious vegan options. We prepared six different dishes! The stuffed vegetables, phyllo wrapped Gruyère with honey and orange zest pie with phyllo were our favorites! Portions were very generous.
As my daughter said “what better souvenir to bring home than the ability to cook Greek recipes.” Thank you Anna.
