The mountain features an active pagoda, holy shrines, and the Killing Cave, which contains skulls and skeletons from the dark era of the Khmer Rouge regime.
Killing Caves Of Phnom Sampeau - Located within Phnom Sampeau mountain, these caves are a historical site where the Khmer Rouge executed their victims. They killed their victims at the top of the cave near a daylight shaft or ceiling hole and then threw the bodies into the cave.
Battambang Bat Caves - Located at the foot of Phnom Sampeou mountain, about 11 kilometers from Battambang town, these caves have become a popular tourist destination. As the sun sets, casting long shadows across the landscape, an excited buzz fills the air. Local vendors set up stalls selling snacks and drinks, while visitors vie for the best viewing spots.
