Highlights
  • Angkor Thom - Morning tour:
Visit Angkor Thom, which includes the Bayon Temple, Baphoun, Elephant Terrace, and The Terrace of the Leper King. Enter the city through the grand south gate, passing the Avenue of gods and asuras that line the bridge over the moat.

  • Bayon Temple - The Bayon Temple, or the state temple of Javavarman VII, is one of the world’s most mysterious and powerful religious structures. It features a unique collection of “face towers” that form a stone mountain of ascending peaks. Originally, there were 54 towers, of which 37 still stand today. Most towers are adorned with four faces, one on each cardinal point. The central tower has many more, and nearby temples include Baphoun, Elephant Terrace, and Leper King Terrace. This massive terrace is named after a 15th-century sculpture found atop it.

  • Angkor Wat - Afternoon tour:
Explore Angkor Wat and enjoy the sunset at Bakheng Hill. Built between the 9th and 14th centuries, the temples of Angkor are among the grandest monuments ever created. The entire complex spans approximately 164 square miles and includes over 200 temples. Of the 30 temples accessible today, Angkor Wat is the most famous and is the largest religious building in the world. Conceived by Suryavarman II in the early 12th century, Angkor Wat took an estimated 37 years to complete. Unlike most other Khmer temples, it faces west, likely because it was dedicated to Vishnu, who is sometimes associated with the west. Bakheng Hill, dating from the late 9th century, was the state temple of Angkor’s first capital. The view from the top is stunning, especially of Angkor Wat to the southeast, making it a popular spot for visitors at sunset.

  • Ta Prohm - Ta Prohm is a temple set amidst the jungle. Wander through the maze-like ruins of this ornate worship site, marveling at the fig trees that threaten to overtake the structure.

A fabulous day with a brilliant guide - We had a fabulous day starting with sunrise over Angkor Watt, back to the hotel for breakfast, before being shown round the temple in daylight and having it all explained to us very thoroughly by Mr Lin Ran, who took the time to help us to understand all the history. We then went on to see Angkor Thom and then after lunch going to see the temple with the trees growing through it. It was a wonderful day made all the better by our guide Mr Lin Ran and driver Rith. We cannot fault the attention we were given, quite the opposite only praise.
