Highlights
  • Siem Reap - You will get picked up from your hotel in Siem Reap and leaving for Battambang. The journey takes approximately 3 hours to Battambang city.
  • Ek Phnom - Situated about 10 km north of the Cobra Bridge are the ruins of Ek Phnom. It was built during the Bayon period and unfortunately is much worse for the wear than Phnom Banan. It’s an interesting place, however, because there is a freshly constructed working temple right in front of the ruins. This temple, along with the temple ruins, is the center of holiday festivities for the people of the nearby village. They dress up in their Sunday best and have a celebration between the old and the new temples and climb all around the ruins with their families.

The ruins are on a very small hill so there is no workout involved in viewing them much of the temple is in shambles and was heavily looted. There are still some sitting Buddha images intact higher up on the walls. On the inside is a carving of a tug-of-war with participants tugging away on a serpent. The participants on the left have lost their heads to looters (they lost face), with the guys on the right still having their heads intact.

  • Battambang - Battambang is a provincial capital of Battambang province which is the second biggest town of Cambodia. However it still has a very local, untouristed, provincial atmosphere. You will stroll around the city to visit:

  • Rice Paper Local Factory

  • Psa Nat, the local market

  • The old colonial buildings of the Governor’s residence

  • Experience the Bamboo Train Riding

  • Old colonial building along the Sangke River

  • Battambang Bat Caves - At Phnom Sompov (Sompov Mountain), sit back and relax to watch millions of bats leave the cave during the beautiful sunset.

  • Siem Reap - We leave Battambang for Siem Reap after sunset and the journey will take about 3 hours, arrival and drop off at your hotel in Siem Reap. Ends of services

Great tour to Battambang - We were picked up promptly at 7.30am by Nak and the driver. The vehicle was spotless. We had as much cold water as we needed for the journey and we were also supplied with cold refreshing towels. The journey to Battambang was a long one but it went quickly and it was helped along by Nak's commentary and insights into Cambodian life. The stops were all good and we found the rice paper one to be quite interesting (you might want to skip the tasting of the cooked spring roll as it was quite greasy) and the also the buddha and temple stop. The star of the show was the bamboo train which was a lot of fun - it was interesting to see that the road traffic had right of way rather than the train. We skipped the bat cave as we wanted to get back to Siem Reap by 6pm otherwise we would have been hanging around waiting for the bats and not getting back until 9-10pm which makes it a very long day. You might need to check what time the bats are due to come out as depending on the time of the year they can be early or much later.

Would recommend - We had an amazing day visiting Battambang and the bamboo train. Our guide Sorphea was very helpful and accomodating. He had a lot of knowledge about the different places we went to and answered all of our questions. The driver Thnou brought us safe and sound to our destinations. Both of them made sure we had enough water all day long and got us local snacks and things to try. It was a really good tour, we even got to see another temple which wasn't part of the tour as we had some time left.

Thank you for a beautiful trip Mr. Nak! - This is a great option if you want a break from the group tours! Mr. Nak was a super informative & great tour guide who told us so much about history & local legends. I really enjoyed this trip - everything was great but the bamboo train & Sampoav Mountain were my favorites. 10000% recommend!

An action packed day in Battambang - Nak was the most knowledgeable tour guide we have had while in Cambodia! We learnt so much about Cambodia's history and about life in Cambodia today. Our driver Tanu drove us safely to each stop and back to Siem Reap in the dark. We chose the tour because we ran out of time to stay in Battambang - so for anyone else that is in the same position I would recommend this tour. It packed a lot in - a temple, visited a family business that makes rice paper rolls and sells spring rolls (which were delicious!), visited the market and sampled some local foods, went to the Provincial Museum, rode the bamboo train, and finished with the Killing Caves and the Bat Cave. Its very hard to pick a highlight.

Bats Cave was fantastic! - I booked the group tour and was surprised that I received a private tour since no one else booked this tour that day. As already mentioned, my highlight was also the Bambootrain and of course the Bats Cave. Sath and Channa made it possible for me to have a wonderful day.

The Battambang tour with Nak is a must do! You won’t be disappointed. - Nak was a fantastic tour guide! This tour was exactly what I was looking for. It showed the highlights of Battambang in an easily digestible manner. Nak was extremely knowledgeable about Battambang and Cambodia. He spoke very good English and was easy to understand. He was patient but also kept us on schedule. He is also a wonderful photographer and knows the best photos ops! I high recommend this tour and Nak as a tour guide!
