Highlights
  • Kompong Phluk - Begin your adventure with pickup from your Siem Reap hotel for the journey to Kompong Phluk. Depending on the season, travel by minibus (February to July) or by minibus and boat (August to January). Transfer to a small boat and set sail along the lake, passing stilted houses and schools, floating markets, pagodas, and fishing boats as your guide tells you more about local life, customs, and traditions.

Wet-season visitors can also opt to enjoy a traditional canoe ride around the flooded forests (for an additional expense) and experience the region’s unique ecosystem as you glide between the semi-submerged trees.

Back in Siem Reap, your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.

A nice experience - Thank you Tom for a nice experience around the village and the boat ride! We saw local people and their homes and afterwards we went to a exciting boat ride.

Great tour would highly reccomend - We were picked up on time from our hotel by our tour guide Bong Sim, who was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, explaining all of the local information throughout our tour of both the floating village and the lake.

Change life perspective - After seeing daily struggles of the People living along the Tonle Sap Lake and what they are going through and manage to put smiles still on their faces, it just makes all my problems insignificant. The Tour was well worth it. We got up close into the people’s house. It was informative and life changing experience.

Floating village - The excursion was nice. The guide gave us a lot of information on how the village works. There was no water in the village because the dry season was over.

Simple tour - Overall a great tour, I just think it's better to do it on your own than with a tour. It's a bit of a shame that you go through the house very quickly, you don't get much time to look around yourself and take pictures at your leisure. Unfortunately we didn't look at the school either, he was just pointed out quickly. You go to the water relatively quickly and you actually spend almost 2 hours waiting for the sun to set and then it's time to go back. We did eat something on the water which was fine. During dinner the guide insisted on writing a review and told you to give a 5 star review. He stood by you until the review was written. Many reviews here will not actually be 5 stars because people think so, but because you are being watched and literally urged to give 5 stars. When you return you immediately board the bus, so unfortunately you don't have to walk through the village. English was mediocre, a lot of information was simply retold 5 times. Great experience if you want to keep it simple but you don't get out of it what you could get out of it. We did the tour ourselves in the dry season, so we did not sail through the mangrove forest.
