Ancient City of Ephesus - After greeting, we will have 20 mins drive to Ephesus area. We will start visiting one of the main highlights in Turkey, Ephesus, one of the 12 cities of Ionian League (an ancient Greek district on the western coast of Asia Minor) is located near Izmir. As a port city it was a major departure point for trade routes into Asia Minor.
Walk through history along marble streets lined with wonderful public buildings, among them the Baths of Scholastica, the Library of Celsus; it was built in the beginning of the 2nd century A.D. by Gaius Julius Aquila to be a memorial to his father Gaius Julius Celsus Polemanus, the proconsul of Province of Asia. , the Temple of Hadrian and The Grand Theater are two of the most impressive buildings in Ephesus. Grand theatre was built in 3rd century B.C and it was later expanded to 24.000 spectators by the Romans in the 1st century A.D. - Meryemana (The Virgin Mary’s House) - Visit The House of Virgin Mary is located on the Aladag Mountains 5 miles away from Ephesus. At the third Ecumenical Council on 431 AD in Ephesus, it was claimed that Mary came to Ephesus with St. John in 37 A.D. and lived there until her death in 48 A.D. After the discovery of the house, the Archbishop of Izmir declared there as a place of pilgrimage in 1892. On July 26, 1967, Pope Paul VI visited this place and prayed there.

Fab half day excursion .. must see 😀 - Ozzie was great. Vehicle great. Prompt and very informative. Sites were well worth a visit except the temple of Artemis which isn’t actually there … nothing to see. Super efficient. Watch out for the suggestion to visit a leather / weaving / pottery factory … it’s ok but not really necessary unless you really want to buy something. We mistakenly thought the lunch location was at the ‘leather’ place which in fairness did sell beautiful things. Great quality but an overwhelming ‘sell’ goes on. Lunch was basic but tasty and overall a really lovely excursion. 👍👍👍

Private group, all inclusive and must see Ephesus. - All inclusive without extra fees except tips to driver and guide. I enjoyed the tour very much because there were just me and my family. We started early and got ahead of the crowd. The tour guide was very nice and knowledgeable. Ephesus is a must see. Take your time and walk through all of it. Not much to see at Artemission. I asked to be dropped off at a “Historic bath” to try traditional Turkish bath. It was a mistake. The facility was too small, no baths, no real sauna. I would not go back to this place.

Timing is everything! - In the high season having someone who knows when places are busy and when you can slip in and out quickly helps greatly in making the most of your day in Ephesus.
Our tour guide, Yavuz was able to bring us in and back quickly from place to place while exciting our interest with details of history before we arrived as well as during our visits to historic places.
This is good tour and I would encourage it for anyone who wishes to understand the historical and cultural aspects.

Greatest Tour Experienced Yet - Yavuz was an amazing, funny, and knowledgeable tour guide. He was very conscious about tourist habits to make sure we did not wait too long in crowds, as well as showing us around Turkey’s local places and supporting local businesses and culture. Gave us an amazing insight into the Turkish hospitality. An overall amazing person, on top of being an expert tour guide.

Best tour ever! - Best tour ever! had a great time always offered to stop and take pictures for us and took us to the best lunch spot. Yavuz was a great tour guide knew the city so well and even found the best time to go to virgin marys house when there was barely anyone!

All-inclusive Ephesus Excursion - Our guide, Emre, was phenomenal! His knowledge and expertise on all things pertaining to this excursion was remarkable and very impressive. Moreover, he had great people skills, and was very accommodating according to what we wanted to experience. Without a doubt he is one of the best tour guides we have ever had. Also, hats off to Viator for reaching out to us and rectifying a previous mediocre experience with another guide in Istanbul. Fantastic- Memorable- once in a lifetime - Wow!! What an amazing day with the most knowledgeable tour guide of our entire trip!!! This tour was above and beyond our expectations. We had food prepared by the local women, a tour of Ephesus and the house of The Virgin Mary, a stop at the local rug maker- where we watched how the women handmake the Turkish Rugs! And then a trip to the leather outlet. It was AMAZING!!!!! Melih-our tour operator was beyond amazing! And so very friendly!!! Thank you for making our trip so memorable! You were the BEST!
