Highlights
  • Kusadasi - Your private guide will meet you at Kusadasi port or at the listed hotels with a sign displaying “Your Name” at any time you prefer.
  • Ancient City of Ephesus - After the greeting, we will take a 20-minute drive to the Ephesus area. We will begin our visit to one of Turkey’s main highlights, Ephesus, one of the 12 cities of the Ionian League (an ancient Greek district on the western coast of Asia Minor) located near Izmir. As a port city, it was a major departure point for trade routes into Asia Minor.

Stroll through history along marble streets lined with magnificent public buildings, including the Baths of Scholastica and the Library of Celsus, which was built in the early 2nd century A.D. by Gaius Julius Aquila as a memorial to his father, Gaius Julius Celsus Polemanus, the proconsul of the Province of Asia. The Temple of Hadrian and The Grand Theater are two of the most impressive structures in Ephesus. The Grand Theater was constructed in the 3rd century B.C. and later expanded by the Romans in the 1st century A.D. to accommodate 24,000 spectators.

  • Meryemana (The Virgin Mary’s House) - The House of the Virgin Mary is situated on the Aladag Mountains, 5 miles from Ephesus. At the third Ecumenical Council in 431 A.D. in Ephesus, it was claimed that Mary came to Ephesus with St. John in 37 A.D. and lived there until her death in 48 A.D. After the house was discovered, the Archbishop of Izmir declared it a place of pilgrimage in 1892. On July 26, 1967, Pope Paul VI visited and prayed at this site.
  • The Temple of Artemis - After lunch near Ephesus, we will visit the Temple of Artemis, once one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, as our final stop before driving back to Kusadasi town center and port.
  • Kusadasi - Arrival in Kusadasi. You will be dropped off at your pick-up point or in Kusadasi center for some last-minute shopping on your own.

100% Recommend This Tour - Such a wonderful way to see the sites! We had 2 adults, 1 elder and 3 kids (13-9). The guide was incredibly informative and helpful. She answered all of our questions and gave great history. The van was awesome! We could stand all the way up and there was a table. Very luxurious! Highly recommend 🙌

Great tour! - We were able to see/ do exactly what we wanted to do on our informative tour with Alex. We easily found our guide after walking through the Kusadasi cruise port and we were off in our private vehicle. Note: we brought Turkish Lyra but locals actually prefer Euros.

Great tailored experience! - Yavuz was an amazing guide who went above and beyond to give us a tailored experience. He answered all of our questions and provided many interesting insights along the way. Pro tip: If you’re visiting in the summer, choose the earliest available time. It can get really hot as early as 9am

Private family tour with Nilgun - We did a private tour for our family with Nilgin as the tour guide. She talked and shared with us the entire trip and also was friendly to both our girls. We think she did a wonderful job and kept us engaged. I highly recommend this tour and Nilgun as well.

Great tour with Tan. - Our guide Tan was very knowledgeable and personable. He went out of his way to meet our requests. The private tour made it possible to be flexible for my back issues that were occurring at the time.

Private tour and avoid the circus. - We arrived on a cruise ship and it was a joy to avoid the chaos of the arrival terminal and meet our private guide. Departing early we remained ahead of the crowds attending the sites around Ephesus. Our guide (Yavus) was knowledgeable and informative with a nice balance of leaving us our own time. Following an enjoyable local lunch we watched traditional rugs being made (Yavus was helpful here in managing the ‘sales pitch’). Having a vehicle at our disposal meant we could stay and go as we wanted. When you consider how much it costs to get here, and how limited the time is, this tour represents great value.

Ephesus, House of Virgin Mary and Artemis Temple - We did a private tour of Ephesus, House of Virgin Mary and Artemis Temple. It was ok for the price we paid but not great. The guide seemed constantly in a rush and more bothered about avoiding crowds at Ephesus than letting us stop to look at things. Also kept trying to control which shops we looked in and suggesting additions to the itinerary which wasn't clear if he wanted to charge extra for. At House of Virgin Mary they initially suggested we'd have to walk down the hill but good job we didn't as it would have been quite a hike! Artemis Temple wasn't really worth it as mainly just a field and guide just said to go look around if we wanted. Overall I'd definitely recommend Ephesus and take your time. Don't bother with House of Virgin Mary it's rather pointless and nothing really at the Artemis Temple.
