The Temple of Artemis - Learn about Artemis, the Greek goddess of wild animals, the hunt, and childbirth. The temple was destroyed by arson on July 21, 356 BC, the same night Alexander the Great was born. Although Alexander offered to rebuild it, the Ephesians refused. The temple was eventually restored after his death but was later destroyed again by the Goths. Today, little remains of the Artemision, but you can visit to imagine its former magnificence.
