Highlights
  • Kuah - The tour start with the hotel/port pickup by our local driver to the jetty.
  • Kilim Karst Geoforest Park - Travel by boat through the twists and turns of the Kilim river through the maze created by aerial roots and thick fleshy leaves of the mangrove trees. We often see mangrove animals that make their home in this delicately balanced ecosystem which is responsible for the health and wide variety of species in the Andaman Sea. We also explore how the mangrove area is a perfect environment for cottage industries such as fish farms.

Our first stop is The boatman will stop the engine and throw some chicken pieces out into the water to invite the eagles. And in no time you will see eagles diving down just next to you and clawing up the chicken pieces and eating them as they soar into the sky.

As we venture out of the mangroves you will see majestic limestone rock formations and sea stacks that rise dramatically from the ocean. This ancient coral thrust into the sky millions of years ago is home to a unique and ancient group of plants found no where else on earth.

  • Gua Kelawar (Bat Cave) - Then we are going to explore darkened bat caves and seeped in fabled tales of mysteries and romance.
  • Kilim Karst Geoforest Park - Visit floating modern fish farm and local fish farm is one of the tour. Our boat will drop you at the floating fish farm in a secluded cove surrounded by high vertical limestone and granite cliffs. You will have an ample time to see the stingrays. There are also a number of sea creatures kept in the ‘tanks’ but we shall not reveal too much - it’s well worth the trip.

After half day with a new experience, the boat will make your way back to jetty and driver will drop off to your original hotel/port pickup

Worth the trip - High speed boat ride was thrilling. Fishing farm lunch was basic but quite tasty. Side trip to the Sleeping Beauty Cave was interesting but beach where we landed on needed a bit of a cleanup. Overall experience was worth the money.

Very interesting - Definitely one of the things to do in Langkawi! We stayed with a private boat and I must say that it was beautiful, especially the Eagles apart from the numerous monkeys and the beautiful mangroves, not to be missed

An interesting eco-experience. - It was well worth the visit, with a 20 minute stop at a beach accessible only by boat. It was depressing though to see the waste such as pastic bottles and detritus left by other visitors, as well as flotsam. the veiegation above the level of the mangroves was depressingly stressed by the lack of water (no rain since October) - global warming? The Sea Eagles performed for us and we met the monkeys and visited the bat cave; the lunch provided was simple but what one needed. The lack of obvious bird activity may have been a function of the time of day or perhaps the very arid conditions. The fish ecosystems seemed however to be teaming. Be prepared to pay to use the loos shoreside.

The boat speeding is... - The boat speeding is quite dangerous especially near the side of the mountain. If loose control, the boat will crash into the mountain and the consequence will be very serious.

More communication needed - We were picked up from the hotel at 9am and dropped off at the tour only to discover it didn't start until 2 hours later! If we had known this we would have made our own way there. It would have been good to be have been told you need to hire a torch in the bat cave otherwise you don't see the bats!! However the boat trip was great fun..

Disappointing experience and a waste of time - This tour was very disappointing and I wouldn’t really recommend it to anyone unless you have a lot of time in Langkawi and nothing else to do. We arrived at the tour site at 10am after being picked up at 9am from the hotel. We then proceed to wait until nearly 12 to actually get on the boat, mind you while we waited around a thousand people have come, got on the boat and left. It’s not really a guided tour either - they drop you in the bat cave which takes 10 minutes, they ride a boat and then it’s done. The guide person on the boat was very nice though and clearly was trying his best. The most disappointing part of the tour was the “lunch” - you get served plain rice with 2 pieces of fried chicken (in the country that’s so well known for amazing cheap dishes that’s the best they could come up with???). It’s clear that they do this so that you can order overpriced seafood off them. This is not the worst part of it though - for some reason they thought it’d be a great idea to have the lunch as the last stop at like 14:30 (???)! At this point just drop us back at the location and I will have a lunch in town. You finish food in 15 minutes and then proceed to wait an hour until a couple of people finish their lobsters…. Overall, the activities are disappointing, the actual interesting things last about 20 minutes and you will spend a whole day there just wasting time around for them to drop you off at the hotels an hour later than promised. So I would really recommend doing something more productive with your time.

Unprofessional and disorganized! - Aside from the tour guide and the stunning views, this tour is awfully organized and the tour operator is so unprofessional. There were no clear details of pickup. The tour page says pickup is coordinated from the hotel. Only after booking the ticket were we made aware that the driver can't pick us up from the hotel and we have to rather meet at a pickup point. On the day of the tour, we were texted by the operatpr stressing that we have to be at the jetty at 9am sharp. We rushed to get there and our driver did not show up until 9:20. The pickup minibus and the bigger bus were both terribly unclean, very old and most of the chairs were broken and/or squeaking! The AC was also horrible and the bus had a back door next to one of the seats that was not well locked. We were not even aware of the fact that we'd be sharing the tour with almost 40 others. We got to our 1st stop and went down the bus without a clue on what to do next. We had to walk our way for almost 20 minutes before the tour guide showed up to give us more details of the program. Which btw is nothing even close to what's listed on the tour page! The itenerary of the day is completely different (7hrs as opposed to the noted 4-6 hours) and there was a 30-min allocated time for the beach which we completely did not enjoy because of the fact that they simply forgot to write it down here. So we were left basking in the sun in front of the water with our full outfits on unable to take a swim because of the lack of information from the operator's side. Oh and the food! Halfway through the trip, the guide announced that the covered lunch is only a tiny piece of chicken with some rice, a bowl of tastless soup and a drink. Anything else is to be charged. Which again was not made clear on the tour page or by the guide at the start of the tour! Finally, on our way back, we were rudely asked by the bus driver to get down and walk to our pickup/drop-odd location as the "bus is too big to get us there". They did not care to arrange with the minibus that picked us up to take us back to where we should be dropped off. The walk is a 15-min one in the sun after a long exhausting day. While we definitey recommend the mangarove trip and immensely enjoyed the nature, we DO NOT recommend at all this trip organizer!
