Highlights
  • The Dusun - The jungle guide, Ah Kau, has been a hunter gatherer all his life. He nursed his late wife through 13 home births with plants he collected from the jungle. He complains that his children’s generation do not want to use the jungle medicines any longer; they all go to the clinic.

Ah Kau’s trek now begins at the Dusun. It takes 20 minutes to get to the jungle entrance then an hour to get to the waterfall. You will need shoes with good grip and socks. There are leeches during the rainy season, they are relatively easy to pull off. This is a real trek, not a walk in the park. It is only recommended for those between 8 years and 65 years.

Please note that we might need to book a different guide in case Ah Kau is booked already.

For nature lovers - Would definitely recommend this experience at least once in your lifetime. Being my first ever jungle trekking in a rainforest, though a bit challenging because I was also handling a 7 year old cross over slippery and sometimes narrow and steep terrain, it was an awesome experience. The guide went at our speed and was patient. Surrounded by lush greenery, breathing in amazing fresh air into our lungs, crossing over small streams, bumping into gigantic millipedes, armies of ants and other jungle crawlies with occasional creepy sounds in the bushes, the jungle vibe did not disappoint. My advise would be to wear comfortable trekking shoes, a loose top, sunhat or cap, sunblock and bring extra change of clothes/towel for the waterfall dip, drinking water, snacks for energy recharge and some emergency first aid stuff in case you fall or get some unforeseen bloody scrapes or grazes like we did. Kids who are able to independently trek themselves would be ideal for sure. It would speed up time by half instead of the 4 hours we took. A very memorable experience with my family. Would I recommend this place for a family adventure...a definite Yes! Would I go back to this place? No 😅
