In the morning, you’ll meet your tour guide at the entrance of Green Lake Hotel (No. 6 Cuihu South Road) and take a walk through Green Lake Park, the lively green heart of Kunming. Wander through this picturesque park to observe the daily routines of modern Chinese locals, where people practice Taichi, middle-aged women engage in ‘square dancing,’ and elderly men play traditional Chinese instruments together. Across from the park lies the Yunnan Military Academy, a renowned military school from the previous century. Discover recent Chinese military history and Kunming’s role as a military hub. Next, we’ll drive to Zhuanxing Market, one of the most popular markets in Kunming. Here, you can find a variety of foods, including fresh fruits and vegetables, different types of sausages and seasonings, handmade noodles, and even roasted suckling pig used in ceremonies. For lunch, you can sample numerous local snacks available at the market.
Inside this market, you’ll find the Dian Opera stage. Dian Opera, also known as Yunnan Opera, is an ancient form of opera unique to this region and has been recognized as an intangible cultural heritage in China. You can take a break here and enjoy the opera performance. Later, we’ll visit Zhuangxing Park, where you can see how Kunming’s seniors spend their day.
