A great trip through Japanese culture! - It is an incredible visit!! Thank you so much to Yoko for a wonderful experience in visiting and discovering Kyoto. It's a unique way to visit and 'feel' the city. The market is a fascinating space, and we had the chance to eat and drink there with our guide lead us through the Japanese culture. Fish, sake, sweets, a soy ice cream that we will remember for the rest of our days, and many others! Go for it 100%, it's one of the must-do experiences of a great trip to Japan. Thanks Yoko. You're the best!

Yoko brought Nishiki Market to life for our family - Our family of five plus one good friend thoroughly enjoyed our introduction to the Nishiki Market with Yoko. There is so much we would have missed without her, and half of the fun was getting to know Yoko. She was so kind and genuinely seemed to enjoy watching six first-time Japan visitors try new foods and go crazy for konjac yam soaps.

Great tour with Chizuko - Chizuko was my tour guide for this Food & Culture Walk. She did a great job linking my culinary and cultural interests to various opportunities on the tour. Her experience and passion for the area come through in her work. I was most impressed by her enthusiasm. When I arrived for the tour 15 minutes early, she gave me a quick impromptu tour of a shopping area adjacent to Nishiki Market. I'd say 66% of the tour was Nishiki Market, with the remainder occurring in the area surrounding the market. Between the number of bites included in this tour and the many free samples offered by various vendors throughout the market, I was pretty full by the end. The higher price of this tour, relative to other Nishiki market tours, can be justified by the number of bits and the relatively longer run time (3 hours). I will travel home with some delicious Japanese seasonings and drink concentrates. While it's possible that I would have found these delicacies myself without Chizuko's help, it's unlikely. The plethora of shopping opportunities in Nishiki market and downtown Kyoto is overwhelming. I'm grateful to Chizuko for directing me to some of the best that Nishiki and Downtown Kyoto offer. As someone on a tight schedule, I thought this was an especially great tour. Thank you Chizuko!

Terrific and delicious learning experience with a wonderful guide! - Our tour guide Chikako was wonderful! She gave us a great overview of the history of the market, made terrific choices in foods to feature that were standouts of the uniquely Kyoto cuisine, and showed us around with an infectious joy and enthusiasm. We learned and tasted so much more than we ever would have doing the market by ourselves. Would highly recommend to anyone who loves food and loves learning what makes the local scene special!
