A river worth the hike - It was an amazing tour with great company. It turned out to be a great hike, it was a bit more challenging than Arenal Volcano but doable. Santiago is an amazing tour guide, very charismatic and knowledgeable. He is always making sure to make everybody feel included and to participate in the hike. And he takes great pictures honestly. The river itself is beautiful and worth the hike.

Fun and Learning - This was a phenomenal experience! What made it a million times better? SANTIAGO! He can find snakes, tarantulas, spiders, sloths in the rain(!), and the astounding knowledge he has about the plants could take hours to unpack. What a great time!

An incredible experience, full of animals and beautiful places - I saw many cute animals, the guides are very experts in finding them and know the ecosystem and the place in general. The tour adapts to the needs of those who go and they are also very attentive. It was too worth it.

Best of KDGs @ La Fortuna - Best experience in LA Fortuna area. Hike was excellent. I would classify hike moderately strainious as there are some steep stretches to climb up/down. But it's totally worth when you see the blue water. Just walking through the forest itself is amazing. And breath taking view if falls just makes to unforgettable experience. Guide Santiago is very experienced and makes it fun ride. He has a very sharp eye to spot the animals and he also takes excellent pics. Great Jon Santiago!

Santiago’s Snake Scramble - The animals cooperated, we were able to see a variety of snakes (Vine Snakes, Eyelash Viper, and Bird Eaters) and a bunch of lizards (mostly Costa Rican Whiptail Lizards). We also saw a poison dart frog, a sloth, some caimans, and a turtle. Our tour guide, Santiago, was incredible. He was able to spot all of the critters and explain to us what they were. He made the excursion a fantastic experience.

WOW! - We had a FANTASTIC experience on our Rio Celest hike with Red Lava Tours, specifically Santiago, our guide. I’m sure all the guides are good, but Santiago was GREAT. He is extremely knowledgeable with sorts of plant-, animal-, reptile- and bug-life in the area...and even taught us a few survival skills. He always made sure the group was moving at a comfortable pace and that we were always accounted for. Santiago was not only an expert guide, he served our professional photographer, waiter, barista, pineapple artisan, and we may have even spotted him pulling a cake out of the oven at the local bakery. From the punctual, comfortable transportation to the delicious lunch stop at a local Soda, I would highly recommend Red Lava Tours…and be sure to ask for Santiago!
