Experience of a lifetime. - What an amazing day! Santiago was our guide and he went above and beyond finding critters for us. He also made sure myself and my friend had help at all the tricky spots on the hiking trail. On top of the passion he has for the jungle and all it’s creatures he is also an amazing photographer and took the best pictures of us on our phones so we have amazing reminders of this incredible day. Highly recommended Red Lava tours.

Extraordinary experience ! - Great day at the Rio Celest with the amazing guide Kenya ! The hike is fantastic leading to the beautiful waterfall and then river of Rio celest. The weather was good the the water was very blue. We had after a very good lunch at a local restaurant and went for a refreshing swim in the river. Kenya was super nice, showing lots of animals and giving many information about bio diversity and the region!

Low and Slow - I had a great time on this trip. My only suggestions for those considering to book this trip is to remember you’re traveling with a lot of people so the pace may not be as quick as you’d like. I also didn’t care for the restaurant we ate at either but those are just personal preferences. The tour guides, driver and experiences were all amazing.

Best tour of La Fortuna! - I attended this tour alone. It was just me and another solo traveler on the tour. Pedro, the driver, was prompt and cheerful. Santiago, the guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the nature surrounding us. He was mindful of the timing and weather to make sure we arrived at the falls with the best chance to see the blue color. He explained the process and itinerary very clearly. He was personable, and friendly with the other tour guides. Definitely well liked! This tour and experience was the best of my time in La Fortuna!

Go for it - Great day out, amazing blue water despite the rain. Good animal sightings although our guide Santiago is yet to share the photos with us…. Good hike but not too hard at all!

Great guide, Santiago! - Our guide, Santiago, made the trip amazing with his vast knowledge, kindness to all creatures (he bought food for homeless dogs along the way and they wait for him to come), care for the environment (he picked up other people’s trash along the way) and keen eye to spot animals…he found us six snakes including 2 pit vipers, poison dart frogs, plus sloth, cayman and turtles. He shared his finds with the other guides in the park too so that their groups could enjoy as well. We were disappointed it was raining so we couldn’t see the blue water but still enjoyer the trip because of Santiago. He took pics along the way that he said he would share with us…can’t wait to see those! The hike is tough if you’re a little older (we were 54 and 61) and not in the best shape but if you take it slow it’s doable. Lunch at the Soda was delicious! If you take this trip try to get Santiago! He is the best!

Day trip to Rio Celeste - This day trip was awesome. This was despite the constant rain and not being able to swim. Our guide Santiago was very knowledgeable throughout the entire day and kept us informed of what we were doing and rough times. We managed to see a bunch of snakes, monkeys, sloths, frogs, caymans, and bird life. Santiago used a camera with a massive lens instead of a telescope which proved to be a stroke of genius. The bonus of seeing all these animals plus getting the pictures that Santiago took with his camera will be a nice memory. (Please don't forget to send Santiago😊😊). Plenty of photo ops along the way and well worth the couple of hours hike. Our lunch at the Soda was the best. My tip is the pork chop cassado. Thanks to everyone involved for making it such a wonderful day. PS - Santiago does an awesome howler monkey call.

A 4D NatGeo Experience - Wow- this tour was like watching an episode of NatGeo in 4D, because you are TRULY immersed in the Costa Rican rainforest! Santiago was a PHENOMENAL tour guide- super comical, so knowledgeable, and truly gifted at spotting (and educating us) about wildlife! We encountered howler monkeys, sloths, toucans, and all sorts of reptiles on this tour- it was incredible! The river views were stunning! Would highly recommend wearing hiking shoes or water shoes with good traction as parts of the trail are muddy and can be more slippery because of this! Would also recommend insect repellent wipes or long pants (as the chemicals in bug spray can harm the little amphibians in the forests!). This was a fantastic tour and I would recommend it!

Impeccable tour guide Santiago, wonderful trip, 10/10 :) - Overall, it was a beautiful trip. I’ll just quickly say that our driver was really hectic and driving fast (altough he was a nice guy). BUT our guide (his name is Santiago) was the best!! On our way to the park itself, we stopped multiple times for spotting the wildlife (we’ve seen tucans, various species of monkeys, frogs, baby hummingbirds, batmans, etc.) He said a looot of adittional information for each and it was really nice to have a guide who knows a lot about the wildlife, the place itself and much more!! Then we went to the park, explored the place. We’ve seen some birds and snakes (again - our guide Santiago explained everything). We walked to the waterfall, lagoon, etc. We had delicious lunch as well!! Overall, it was a wonderful experience :-)
