Best adventure in Costa Rica - We are on day 9 of our vacation here in Costa Rica, and this has been the best adventure we have taken thus far! There were 9 of us in our group, 4 adults and 5 kids ranging from 12-19. Verny was our main tour guide and Noel was the guide who joined us/ required by the property. To tell you Verny is amazing is an understatement! Noel was pretty fantastic also! The teens weren't excited to go on a "hike", but Verny quickly won them over! The car ride from Potrero was close to 2 hours, but it went by so quickly since Verny kept us entertained. The trip to the waterfall definitely doesn't feel like hiking! We stopped various times to learn about plants, climb through caves/caverns/canyons, and jump/slide off rocks. It was an adventure from start to finish! As a 50 year old female, I'm thankful for the patient guides who were meticulous with our safety. They made sure we all knew the slippery areas and they offered many hands to help! They also had some voluntary opportunities for the more adventurous ones. I highly recommend this adventure. If I come back to Costa Rica, I will definitely do this trip again! La liona waterfall hike - We had an amazing tour today, with Verny as our driver/guide and Noel as our trail guide. Verny was a great driver, making sure our ride was safe and comfortable (and most importantly, air conditioned). He even stopped on the way to pick up water and snacks for our group before we began our hike. We had about a 1.5 hour drive from our hotel and he told us all about the scenery, history of Costa Rica, and wildlife, including monkeys, which we got to stop and see. Once we got to the national park, we stopped for a bathroom break and then switched to a 4-wheel drive vehicle to get to the trailhead. The hike was difficult, but, even though we had two kids with us (ages 4 and 7), the guides were so helpful, carrying the girls where they couldn’t climb, and helping them swim in the deeper areas with stronger currents. Although the hike was difficult, we felt safe and confident because we had such good guides. Noel was an amazing trail guide, and so helpful and kind with the kids. We couldn’t have completed the hike without his help today! After the hike, Verny took us to lunch and then to a neat souvenir store, where we got to browse and get some mementos of our trip. Overall a great, but tiring day! A word of caution, this hike is not for the faint of heart: the trail was muddy and slippery and there were some areas that we had to climb ladders, and one steep rock face that we had to cross. Our 7 year old had no problems, but it was quite difficult with a 4 year old in tow. She did it though (albeit with a few tears about being wet, cold, and dirty) thanks to the help of our guides. We are so happy we got to do this once in a lifetime activity as a family! So to sum up, it is a difficult hike with little ones, and took much longer than it would have without the kids, but not impossible!

La Leona - the thrill - Noel our tour guide was awesome. It was very physical to get through this excursion. Climbing, walking, swimming are required. Must do but not for non-hikers.

Best part of the vacation - Most amazing experience of a lifetime! So beautiful. We felt like adventurers! The hike was not as bad as some reviews made it seem. We took our time, went through caves, canyons, rivers, and of course to the falls.

Great trip to La Leona Waterfall - From the time we were picked up from our hotel by Anthony, to the time we were dropped off everything went smooth and well executed. Anthony was very friendly and knowledgeable of the Costa Rican culture. Our guide was Nacho and he was very helpful and even took time to take pictures of us during the hike and waterfall. It’s a must see excursion.

Amazing tour guide, amazing people and so much fun plus beautiful views - We took many pictures , beautiful views , great people, the guide nacho excellent person and guide. Hernan we can’t be more grateful to have had him as our driver and guide as well , he is an amazing person thank you for show us beautiful places ,he taught us lots about the countries culture, food , etc but mostly he was very kind with us , thank you very much you give us the best impression of Costa Rica .

Amazing tour with an amazing and the most sweet person driving us and who accompanied us and guided us named hernan! - Amazing tour guider who took us! Name was hernan, he picked us up from our apartment was super friendly and talkative which we loved! Then brought us to la Leona which was beautiful and showed us the amazing culture and environment of Costa Rica

Adventurous Hike - Alberto our guide was the best! He taught us a lot about Costa Rican culture and was extremely friendly. This was such a fun experience, great if you love to swim. We even saw monkeys! 10/10 recommend!

If you do one thing in Costa Rica, let it be this - I can’t say enough good things about our hike to La Leona waterfall! This was our absolute favorite thing we did in Costa Rica. We were promptly picked up from our hotel by our tour guide Alberto. He went above and beyond to tell us all about Costa Rica and we shared stories along the way. I think we were all a little worried that the drive would be long and tiresome but it went by smoothly, and Alberto had a cooler full of refreshments for us just in case. The hike itself was unlike anything we’ve ever done. It was a mixture of climbing up rocks, hiking, swimming, sliding down a natural “water slide” into a blue pool, and finally reaching the waterfall. This was one of those times where the beauty was really in the journey. I felt like we could have stayed out there all day enjoying the fresh water, beautiful plants and animals we saw along the way. After our hike we had lunch at a local soda and the food was delicious. Alberto drove us back to the hotel and we had such an amazing experience that we decided to book the remainder of our excursions through this company. They even offered to pick us up and drop us off anywhere we needed for the remainder of our trip if we had trouble getting transport. If you do one thing in Costa Rica, book this tour!
