Highlights
  • Manarola - In Manarola, you can unwind by swimming in the pristine waters of the Mediterranean Sea, savor local delicacies in the shops, or explore this quaint fishing village, which is part of a UNESCO World Heritage site.
  • Vernazza - Vernazza is the second town in the Cinque Terre, nestled in a bay between Monterosso al Mare and Riomaggiore. It also encompasses the nearby village of Corniglia, which is a part of it.
  • Monterosso al Mare - Monterosso al Mare is situated in the heart of a small natural gulf, shielded by a modest artificial reef, to the east of Punta Mesco on the La Spezia Riviera. It represents the westernmost point of the Cinque Terre.
  • Riomaggiore - Riomaggiore, like the other Cinque Terre towns, is nestled between the Ligurian Sea and the steep mountain range that branches off from the Apennines at Mount Zatta and descends southeast, serving as a divide between the Val di Vara and the coastal area. The historic center, with its origins dating back to the 13th century, is located in the valley of the Rio Maggiore stream, the ancient Rivus Major from which the village gets its name.

Beautiful tour but be prepared to walk - Our tour guide was very good. He greeted us warmly. Our guide was great he took us to all the villages and gave us time to explore. I will say this tour has A LOT and I do mean ALOT of walking starting from the cruise port to the train station. Although the walking was alot our tour guide made the tour enjoyable. He made sure that we all got back to the cruise port on time. He was great.

Best way for a 1-day cruise port stop - For just a one day cruise port stop we felt there wasn't really a lot of time. In stead trying to do Florence in an hour, or Pisa tower, we chose this nice relaxing walking train tour - seeing all the marvelous landmark scenic spots. Our guide brought us to her most favorite gelato shop too. We enjoyed this tour very much.

Nice guide great views. - It was good if you are a new traveler. We travel a lot, The guide was nice, but we really could have done it on our own by purchasing an all day rail pass for less money.

Beautiful streets and towns. - Our guides were very helpful and accommodating with the schedule we had. There was a little more walking to the train station than we expected and it was raining so we started a little down but the rest of the day was great.

Great introduction to Cinque Terre! - Wonderful tour guide…attentive and very personable. A little more historical context would have been nice. But overall a great way to be introduced to Cinque Terre.

Not at all like the description on line - was very disappointed with this excursion. Your description on the website was not very accurate. you say moderate. This should have been strenuous. you did not indicate that you had to walk over 40 minutes at the meeting point to get the first train - would NOT have booked if I had known that. Two of us could not even try to walk up the hill on your first stop. you should have also made it clear that there were very long and uphill walks off each of the train stops to get to where we were going to. In general much more longer and uphill walking that was made clear to us from your descriptions of this excursion.

Not very organized - Good tour, but not very organized- tour guide didn’t have a sign; had to ask around to find the tour. Tour started at 10:30 instead of 9:30 due to poor organization and then had to walk 30 minutes to the train station. Cinque Terre was magnificent nonetheless.

DON"T DO IT! Disaster Awaits! - This experience was a nightmare! We showed up off our cruise ship and discovered 1 guide and 30 people. The "tour" started with trying to wrangle 30 people 1.2 miles uphill to the train station. Some were older, with canes etc, and this was very difficult. Little did we know this was the "easy part". Once we got to the train station, it was clear that it was going to be impossible to get 30 people onto the train (and of again at 4 different towns) because it was SO CROWDED that sometimes only 1-2 people could get on the train car at a time, nevermind 30. The first train that arrived was too croweded for anyone. Then, we had to tromp to change tracks. Next train came and who knows if we all got on. When my husband and I reached the next stop, the poor guide was trying to find everyone. There was no room for information on what to see, where to eat, what was high up the hill, history or culture. It was just nightmare logistics. Bottom Line: This company was too cheap to break a group of 30 into at least 2 groups. Too cheap to get a shuttle for older people getting off a cruise ship to get to the train. Too unrealistic in tour design to have it actually work. My husband and I left the "tour" - the group of 30 - after the 1st stop because being in such a large group and trying to navigate the trains was harder, not easier. Our 2 tickets for this tour cost us $129... we would have been better off spending the 5 or 10 euro for the Cinque Terra Train ticket and doing it on our own.
