Amazing and highly recommendable 3-days jungle tour - We have been travelling South east Asia for 3 months, and this tour is one of the best so far! From the beginning, we were taken very good Care of. We came to our hotel the evening before the trek where we Got a free drink as Well as a briefing about What we should bring and What to expect. It was very nice to be informed already when we arrived. After we Walked around Bukit Lawang which was a beautiful and autenticitet experience. The Day after, we met with our guide, Hari, and his assistent guide. From the beginning of the trek, Hari was excellent to Tell about the jungle, and to answer all of our questions. We had Some Great days and we Saw all the differentiere species of Monkeys, and Hari was very keen to take the time to find the different animals and show us. We had so much fun and the team was excellent! The food was also delicious and we felt completely safe all 3 days. We Will recommend this tour to everyone without hesitation, and we hope that you are just as Lucky getting a good guide, as we were. Big applaus to Hari for his engagement and huge knowledge! Also the communication via whatsapp with the Company was amazing. They were very politi and Quick to answer our questions and help with our needs. Overall 10/10 experience -Kathrine and Oliver

Unforgettable ! - It was a great 2 days! Out of time! I loved it, the landscapes are magnificent, we saw orangutans and many species of monkeys. We ate really well in the evening at the camp as well as lunches during the trek, our 2 guides Jerry and Nata took care of us from start to finish. Thanks to them the experience will remain unforgettable. I recommend x1000 this trek particularly with Jerry and Nata 🥰

Second jungle trek with this great company in a month! - A month ago I visited Bukit Lawang for the first time. From the moment I arrived here it immediately felt like home. The village, the people and the atmosphere here is great. The river that runs straight through the village ensures that there is always plenty of life. A month ago we went into the jungle for three days with Sumatra Orangutan Trekking. Ibnu, among others, was my guide at that time. Great local who knows a lot about the jungle, is super friendly and helpful. He made sure we didn't lack anything. After I left Bukit Lawang a few days later, I immediately had the feeling that I wanted to come back here. I then traveled through Sulawesi for three weeks and then booked a plane ticket back to Sumatra. The company arranged for me to be picked up at Medan airport and arranged accommodation for me. Then we went back into the jungle with the guides Erwin and Ibnu for three days. They were great days together with locals and other travelers from all over the world. The guides' enthusiasm is infectious and they ensure that you fall in love with the jungle as much as they do. She guided us through the tough parts of the hike, prepared our food with a smile on their faces and told us all about the orangutans and the other monkeys in their habitat. We were even able to spot gibbons! The food was great with lots of fresh fruit and delicious nasi goreng for lunch. When we arrived at the camp, we were able to cool off in the river while coffee and tea were made for us. We played cards in the sun and then a delicious and extensive dinner was served. In the evening we all enjoyed music, cards and a beer. The locals entertained us with card tricks and stories about orangutans and ghosts. We laughed and chatted until the stars started shining above us and then crawled into our tent where blankets, a mat and a mosquito net were provided. During the next day of hiking, she ensured our safety and helped us up if we slipped. It is a very ethical company that puts the interests of the orangutans first. They ensure that people don't get too close, that there is no food in their area and that the orangutans are not too bothered by us. We were able to see so many orangutans because they knew exactly where to find them! They also care enormously about nature, ensure that no food and waste is left behind and leave everything tidy. The second evening was again very pleasant and the next day we were able to swim at a waterfall and they rafted us back to the village. In the evening we enjoyed fun and guitar music in the village. The company also ensures that you lack nothing in the following days and my transport back to Medan was arranged. The most beautiful experiences during my three-month trip through Asia were in Bukit Lawang. Thank you and see you next time, I will definitely be back!

Bukit Lawang Amazing trekking - We did the 3 day trekking with Sumatra Orangutan Trekking. We had an amazing tourguide Erwin, who was eager to find every possible monkey and ape that was walking around in the jungle. He also explained a lot about the jungle and he was (most importantly) very funny! We had an amazing time in Bukit Lawang! Would really recommend it!!! Only 5 stars because million stars are not an option ;)

Great eco friendly trekking experience in the jungle - I went here with my girlfriend in May 2024 and would highly recommend these guys. They are nice guides that have a good knowledge about the jungle and know where to find the Orang Utans (and other animals). They tell all kinds of stories about the jungle and help you while trekking. They also provide great food like homemade nasi goreng, other traditional dishes and the best local fruits during your days in the jungle. The trekking can be though from time to time due to the rough terrain, humidity and temperature but I would gladly do I again. Also, the jungle taxi back to Bukit Lawang at the end of the trekking is a well deserved and fun trip to finish. Lastly, they can also help you with other trips around the village (Donnie is great) like the village tour or a trip to Samosir Island!

Awesome team, excellent organization and breathtaking experience - We booked the 2day jungle tour and it was just awesome. Harri and Arri and their team did a fantastic job. We saw the first Orangs after around 20 minutes and then again in the afternoon and also in the next day. They were quite close and I was impressed by their size and their beauty.. The treck was great, there was a lot to see, all kind of monkeys too. Harri and Arri took good care of us, fruit breakes, lunches and dinner were delicious. The night at the river was also an experience I didn’t want to miss. Excellent package, thank you guys. Shoutout also to Dedek and Andre who were my contact before and after the trip. Communication was excellent and they supported us in the best way ever! Especially when our flight after the trip was postponed. I felt in very good hands. Thank you Dedek!

What a great organization and jungle trek!! - The jungle trek (2D1N) with Sumatra Orangutan Trekking was really great. It is fantastic to go into the jungle and sometimes see the orangutans and all kinds of other wild animals up close. It is possible for all levels. However, the service of Sumatra Orangutan Trekking makes it complete. I was completely helped with clear English when I booked from Flores and knew nothing at all. Accommodation, transport, what to take with you on the jungle trek, you can be helped and advised on everything, with good competitive prices. The guides can tell you a lot about nature and animals, always with a big smile on their face. They are very sweet, funny and helpful. It was a unique experience for me and something I will never forget. And the Sumatra Orangutan Trekking team has made the difference. Take my word for it, you've come to the right place with this team, I've made new friends there! Thank you very much and hope to see you soon!!

Top draw - We had a super fun trek, we had a super nice and pleasant guide (Erwin). The group we ended up in was also very nice. Very cool to be able to walk through the jungle and encounter different monkeys. Highly recommended!! If I can do this again, I will definitely go for more days!

Lifetime experience. Not to be missed or shortened! - Our trek was far beyond our best expectations! Baik, our guide, was excellent, always in a good mood and in the right pace. The cook cooked amazing meals for us and the assistant was always very helpful. We saw many Orangutans from close distance and enjoyed event moment, including the rainy ones. Overall - lifetime experience. Thanks a lot! We will highly recommend it

This company's online reviews are deceiving! - I am quite sad to be writing a review for a company that has so many positive ratings here on TripAdvisor, unfortunately my experience with this company, and it's representatives was far from positive. Upon my arrival in Bukit Lawang, I was welcomed by Dedek and Doni, or should I say deceived. As I asked to be booked into one of their accommodations, they offered me a price that was double what was shown on another hotel booking platform. And me informing them, angered them - believe it or not! I still went ahead and booked myself onto the tour as I met a few others that would have made the tour enjoyable. Despite their shout towards responsibility and sustainability, you can see their guides running around the forest with watermelons to engage with the animals to bring them closer, something I was rather shocked. After the tour, Doni became friendlier, taking us out for drinks and some nibbles - little did we know that it was all part of a plot to scam us into buying more excursions into the company. Their shout for responsibility is unfortunately far from the real truth. I would recommend to opt with other tour operators.
