The Lares Trek was amazing - My husband and I did the Lares Trek. It was amazing! Luis is a great guide, who was always very relaxed and patient, so we could take our time and take all the pictures we wanted. The food was also very delicious, we were really surprised by that! We only saw one group of other tourists on the way, so that was also great. That's the summary, but for more details, keep on reading. On the first day, we visited a local market. Then, we relaxed at hot springs. In the afternoon, we started our trek. The landscapes were beautiful, and we saw many lama's and alpaca's. We spent the night at a house in a local village, it was very interesting to see how this family lives! Usually you sleep in a tent in their garden, but because it was very cold and there was space, the cook set up our tent in a shed. On the second day, the landscapes were even more stunning than the day before! The scenery seemed to change after every corner. Again, we ended up at a local village. This is where the Lares Trek ends. If you're a bigger group, you will spend the night in a tent in this village. But because we were a small group, we took a bus to Ollantaytambo and slept there. On the third day, Luis gave us a guided tour through Ollantaytambo. It's a beautiful town! We also had some free time to explore. In the afternoon, we took the train to Aguas Calientes. Again, we had free time. Also, the room there was really beautiful and there was hot water. Bring earplugs, because there is a lot of music in this town. Then, on the fourth day, we visited Machu Picchu! Luis knew exactly how to get in at the perfect time to see the sunlight go over the mountain. We walked around circuit 2, which is known to be the most complete route. Also, it's possible to climb Huayna Picchu halfway Circuit 2 (we had booked a ticket for this). So keep in mind that your timeslot for Huayna Picchu should be about 2 hours or more after your timeslot for Circuit 2. Inkas Destination knew this and booked the perfect timeslots. To conclude: it was a great experience and we can definitely recommend Inkas Destination!

We had a great time on: Lares trek to Machu Picchu - This trip was way beyond the ordinary. It was a great experience we will remember for many years. Our guide, Luis, was with us the whole time giving us information about where we were. He did a great job and I can tell he really went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. The hiking, views and wildlife (LLAMAS AND ALPACA mostly) were fantastic. We stayed at a different location each night. In Huacahuasi, we stayed (camped outside) of a native Incan family and experienced a little bit of their amazing culture. The second day started from Huacahuasi to Abra Ipsay pass 15,093’ elevation. We had a “Earth God” celebration with the cocoa leaves. We saw wild Chinchilla right befor the pass. (We had been in Cusco 2 days prior to the trek so we had minimal issues with the high altitude.) Later on the second day we ended up in Petacancha where we took a lift to our next resting spot Ollantambo. The third day was more restful. We stayed at a private residence (modern,) and had a great sleep. The next day was more restful traveling. That morning, we toured the free ruins there then boarded the train to Aqua Calientes which is the “base camp” to get to Machu Picchu. Because of the attraction there are *a lot* of people there, still, everyone was friendly. We did some natural hot springs there then had dinner and went to bed to wake up early the next morning for our bus ride to Machu Picchu. Our last day was Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu both were spectacular. Our friends, Jackie and Andrew got engaged at the summit of Huayna Picchu.

Lares Trek! - This was truly an amazing experience! Our guide Luis delivered personalized service and took care of all our needs on the trek. Luis completed an Inka sacrificial offering on the mountaintop! I did get a little altitude sickness and he offered to go to the pharmacy for medication which really helped me get back into the trek and feel well ;))). I have been to multiple countries and multiple treks and this is the one to do!!

Simply perfect - simplemente perfecto! - We absolutely adored everything about this tour: from the professionality and availablity of the organisers Zeneyda and Luis to the courtesy and knolwdge of our guide Rene' and the amazing food that Santo cooked for us during the 4 days trek. During our adventure we followed a stunning path up and down the Andes and we came in contact with the locals who are very welcoming and absolutely beautiful in thier colourful dresses. We also got to see a lot of wild animals such as alpacas and llamas, birds and chinchillas. The Lares trek itself is quite challenging during the first but especially the second day, mainly due to the altitude (on the second day we reached a mountain pick of 4200mt!), but it is doable if you are moderately fit, you don't need to be a hiking-freak! Moreover, we could always trust our guide Rene' that, in addition to explaining a lot of very interesting historical and cultural facts during the whole duration of the trip, was always very careful and knew perfectly when we needed a rest without us having to ask for it. The last two days are less demanding in terms of walks and the difficulty of the trek can be decided based on how you feel (and on the precious suggestions of your guide!). The food was absolutely amazing and freshly cooked by our cook Santo who always preceeded us and reached the base camp in advance. We also felt very spoiled as the tents and our bigger rucksack were taken to the camp by the muleteers and the mules (bear in mind you can leave to them a maximum of 7kg of personal item per person, and anyhow, it's best to travel with as less weight as possible!) We highly recomend this trek for all the beautiful landscapes you'll see, for the spotless organisation and for the whole experience that we will alway cherish! :) Thank you so much to Inkas Destination!
