Embark on an intimate day trip to the picturesque island of Berlenga Grande from Lisbon. Your journey begins in the captivating fisherman’s hamlet of Peniche, from where you will set sail for Berlenga Grande, a pristine island part of the Berlengas Nature Reserve (Reserva Natural das Berlengas).
Tour the historical 17th-century fort of St John the Baptist and meander through the delightful trails of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Afterwards, venture into the island’s caverns on a glass-bottom boat ride (included). To ensure a personalized experience, tour sizes are capped at eight participants.
IMPORTANT: As of 2019, regulations regarding the maximum number of visitors to the Island have been revised. As a result, during the peak season (July and August), the duration of your visit to the island may be shorter.
- IMPORTANT: From the 1st June of 2022, local authorities are implementing a population control to the island that requires a previous visa. Therefore, we need you to send us the following data for all participants: Name, Country, ID number (an ID you can show locally if requested).

Great tour - Nuno our guide was lovely, we had a quick one our drive and then took a boat to the island, it was unbelievably beautiful there, and Nuno was incredibly helpful with translating and showing us around the island. We walked to the fortress and then took a boat tour of the surrounding caves, had a nice lunch, and then had about 2.5 hours to just relax on the beach/swim. Amazing day and tour!

Perfect Family Day Trip from Lisbon - This Berlenga Island trip was a great family trip. Nunu was an awesome guide who knows the timing of the activities very well. He gave us the lunch options when we arrived and made the reservation so that a table was ready for our group of 7 at the perfect time. The kids loved jumping into the water and swimming. You get history, nature, scenery, hiking, nature, swimming and the glass bottom boat tour on this trip. The variety and activity is great for families. We did follow the advice to bring some seabands and ginger pills for the boat ride to the island which seemed to work.

Get Nu Nu!! - What an experience we shared!! Even with the weather not being our friend it was such a great experience. From the beginning you will never forget Nu Nu he has so much knowledge of his country and he treats you like family from the very beginning. I will say that this hike is not for the faint of heart, but it is also so rewarding. We had food at the restaurant, and it was also good. the cave tour by boat was a nice ending to a glorious day when the sun finally came out and then left us again!! By the end of the day we had a lovely family bonding experience. Get Nu Nu!!

Amazing day on this spectacular island! - Gil was an awesome knowable tour guide. The boat ride over was an adventure, and it was a calm day! The island is beautiful! Lot’s of walking up hills and down, so make sure you wear good shoes. Lunch was very good at the restaurant! We had an old fashioned American cheeseburger and fries and also mussels. The glass boat ride to see the sea caves was great! And just enough time to enjoy the beach and get in the water (was cold, but not too cold). Definitely recommend this experience if you’re visiting Lisbon, it’s only about an hour ride away in the van. Thank you for a great day on this amazing island.

Must-Do for a Day Trip! - My sisters and I came to Lisbon for our annual sisters trip and we’re looking for some beach and nature action even though we were staying in the city center. We were definitely not disappointed! One of the highlights of our 5-day trip. Gil was a great guide- both personable and knowledgeable. You really do get a full day out of it with some hiking to the top of the lighthouse and some free time to eat, tan, and swim in the cove. The small group also lets you make friends and we went out with some of them that very night.
Warning: if you are someone prone to being sea sick, you may want to consider the trip carefully (Gil and his crew were great and give you plenty of warning and help if it does happen). We were on the boat to the island on a relatively “calm” day, and it was for sure a bumpy ride- added to the thrill of the day, though :)

Absolutely lovely!! - It was breath taking with the steep hills, blue water and the nesting gulls and cormorants. It was a small challenge in navigating the path and stairs to the fort, but worth it to get good pictures. The boat ride to the caves and thru the steep hills was exhilarating. The food and drinks were yummy. The beach area was crowded and the water was colder than expected, but refreshing. All in all a wonder experience!!

Magical Island - Our day trip to Berlenga Island was absolutely fantastic, and a huge part of the credit goes to our incredible tour guide, NouNou! His energy and enthusiasm were infectious, making the entire experience even more enjoyable.
