  • Estacao do Oriente - “Welcome to the EXPO’98 World Fair” this is the greeting that will welcome you when you meet your guide at the “Gare do Oriente” Train Station.

Designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava it received in 1998 the Brunel Award which is assigned to railway companies for its outstanding design in the field of architecture among other categories.

Small presentation of the history of universal exhibitions and the course of the Portuguese candidacy for the EXPO’98.

  • Feira Internacional de Lisboa - Lisbon International Fair. With a covered area of 43,000 m2 spread over 4 pavilions, during EXPO’98 it welcomed around 60 of the 146 participating countries in what was designated as the International North Area.

This “building” was designed by the pair of Portuguese architects Barreiro Ferreira and França Dória. The project was developed over 4 years based on the idea of a fair that claims to be open to the public space with elements of nautical architecture integrating its formal universe.

  • Telecabine Lisbon - North Station - Cable car trip. The Telecabine was one of the most popular attractions at EXPO’98. You will have a panoramic view of the built complex with emphasis on the Vasco da Gama Tower and Bridge, the Pavilion of the Future, the Oceanarium, the Pavilion of Portugal and the entire “Parque das Nações” (name that designates the area after the EXPO’98).

One-way trip lasting about 10 minutes, covering a distance of 1230 meters at a height of 30 meters. The ticket is included.

  • Oceanario de Lisboa - Next stop Lisbon Oceanarium. Designed by the North American architect Peter Chermayeff, responsible for the design of some of the most important aquariums in the world.

In 2017 it received the distinction of “Best Aquarium in the World” by the Traveler’s Choice from TripAdvisor.

  • Pavilhao do Conhecimento - Last Stop. Located in the heart of the EXPO’98 fairground the Portuguese Pavilion, nowadays the Knowledge Pavilion, with its giant suspended concrete roof is a tribute to the theme of the fair: “The Oceans: An Inheritance for the Future”.

Gorgeous - Magnificent day. There are plenty of things to do. The cable car ride allows you to fly over the Tagus and see the city from another angle. Really great to do with kids
