Highlights
  • Sintra-Cascais Natural Park - Nestled in the enchanting region of Sintra, known as the Moon Hill, this area is steeped in an aura of enchantment and enigma. Here, the harmonious blend of natural beauty and human craftsmanship has been recognized by UNESCO with the designation of World Heritage Site. Spanning from the Sintra Mountains to the coastline, this protected zone is the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. Azenhas do Mar is a picturesque village where homes tumble down the seaside cliffs, featuring a sea-fed swimming pool and a slender beach that disappears under the waves at high tide. It’s a breathtaking locale that’s definitely worth a visit, much like the nearby Adraga Beach, nestled among the cliffs. To round off your journey along the Sintra shoreline, make your way to Cabo da Roca, the most westerly point of Europe, famously described as “where the land ends and the sea begins,” and surrender to the mesmerizing vistas and the ocean’s mighty embrace.

Fun tour, but tried to fit too much into 5 hours - Very interesting tour. Tour guide was very talkative and knowledgeable. It was 5 hours and not near enough time to do everything as much as we would have liked, i.e.; Castelo Dos Mouros; Park and National Palace of Pena; Centro Historico de Sintra; and Quinta da Regaleria. This was a private tour and had we known, we may have changed a little. Walking the downtown street of Sentra was fun with tasting of the Cherry Liquor in the chocolate cups was fun and picking up sourvenirs; the castles were great and we needed more time there. We did stop at a coffee shop for their local pastry that was excellent. We ended up getting in a thunder storm just before entering the palace tour so we got drenched but that was part of the experience we will remember. Recommend the tour but be prepared to either make some alterations to the agenda or hot foot it through the castle/palace
