Additional Information

For an exceptional orientation to Lisbon, look no further than this tour. We embark on our exploration starting from Alfama, Lisbon’s oldest district. It has experienced the passage and cultural impact of the Phoenicians, Romans, Visigoths, and Moors, until Lisbon’s capture by Afonso Henriques, Portugal’s first king, in 1147. Experience the enchanting narrow lanes, the renowned “azulejos” adorning the walls, laundry fluttering from balconies, vintage trams, undulating stairways, delightful local cuisine, hospitable inhabitants, and the crux of Portuguese culture – Fado.
As our tour advances, we’ll explore Baixa and Chiado, Lisbon’s romantic districts. These areas have been frequented by illustrious artists, writers, poets, and politicians since the 18th century and continue to hold the city’s pulse with their impressive architectures, historical sites, and vibrant urban life.

Excellent Lisboa Walking Tour with Joaquim - This Lisboa walking tour was great. Joaquim our guide messaged before the tour, was prompt to meet, and took us all around Lisboa. He was knowledgeable historically while still be culturally aware and chill. The tour was a good length and we saw most of the major Lisboa sites. At the end of the tour, Joaquim gave us restaurant recommendations and other sightseeing recommendations all of which were A+. We would use again!

Fantastic Tour! - I cannot say enough about our insightful and wonderful tour that we took with Sara. Sara is amazing and so knowledgable about the history and culture of Lisbon. We began in the Alfama district and ended the tour in the Chiado district. By the end of the tour, we not only felt familiar with our surroundings (able to navigate without a map) but we felt like we had gained an intimate knowledge of the Portuguese people, and this foundational tour continued to inform and blossom over the course of our 2 and 1/2 week journey from Lisbon to Porto. Sara also connected with me to share several sites to visit in Porto, and her information was much better than that of the walking tour guide we experienced there. I guarantee this tour is worth the money tenfold. Sara is informative, warm, funny and engaging. 5 stars all the way!

Lisboa- We will be back!! - A private tour is the way to go! Sara, our tour guide, is so friendly, outgoing and knowledgable about Lisboa - The City of Seven Hills. And let me tell you, "hills" there were! The tour was 3 hours and she walked us through the various neighborhoods of Lisboa, engaging in wonderful conversation about the Portugese people, their history and culture. We walked thru (and up!) the different neighborhoods of Lisboa - including Alfama where tradition still lives. Sara provided insight on the the politial history of Portugal both prior to and post WWII; the origin and love of Fado music and their love of Wine and Ginjinha -- a wonderful cherry liquor -- which we happliy sampled in Alfama which was home made. At the end of our tour we truly felt that we had made a new friend in Sara and our experience with her was the highlight of our trip. This is not your typical run of the mill city tour. You won't be disappointed.
