Highlights
  • Praca do Comercio (Terreiro do Paco) - The Praça do Comércio (English: Commerce Square) is a large, harbour-facing square in Portugal’s capital, Lisbon.

Facing, south, the Tagus (Tejo), the city square is still commonly known as Terreiro do Paço (Palace Yard), as hosted the Paços da Ribeira (Royal Ribeira Palace) until it was destroyed by the great 1755 Lisbon earthquake. After the earthquake, the square was completely remodeled as part of the rebuilding of the Pombaline Downtown, ordered by Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, 1st Marquis of Pombal, who was (chief) Minister of Portugal from 1750 to 1777, during the reign of Dom José I, King of Portugal.

Real explorer experience. - Great trip unique views with a great guide, Mafalda who spoke in three languages. Her English was perfect. You can see all of the city from a different perspective and get a taste of what sailing in an old ship is like.

Great experience - Perfect amount of narration and leaving us to enjoy the scenery. Beautiful views and great to have the fado playing gently in the background. Well organised and helpful staff (very kind to assist my husband who has poor mobility)

Stunning views on the Tejo - A cruise to remember on board this sailing ship! It's very windy on the Tejo, but the sights are beautiful and you forget about being cold. The town, Belem, the 25 April Bridge, the Christ Statue and the size of tankers and cruiseships, you will be amazed!

Lovely Afternoon cruise - We took the 90 min afternoon cruise around the Lisbon waterfront and across the river to the other side. It was a wonderful way to end our last day in Lisbon to see all the sites we had already visited from the water! The announcer was also quite impressive speaking many languages so that everyone could geta bit of history

Disappointed there was no sailing - We booked this trip for 2:30 on a Sunday. Saturday at 4:30 we were walking past the docks as the sunset sail was leaving. We could not see any sails bent. The boat did not set any sails as they went off down the river. I immediately went to the booth and asked to be issued a refund, if the boat would not be under sail. Since it was 22 hours before our sail and their policy is 24 hours, they refused. This is advertised as a sailing charter. Look at the photos they post. If the vessel will not be under sail I think they are engaging in false advertising. All that said, it was a pleasant motor up and down the river but I wouldn’t have booked a traditional sailboat just to be motored around.
