Highlights
  • Oceanario de Lisboa - Opened during the Lisbon World Exposition of 1998, the Oceanario is a top attraction. With over 1 million annual visitors, it offers an enchanting glimpse into the underwater world. Explore 8,000 sea creatures from 500 species, including penguins, otters, sharks, and corals. The main exhibit features a 5-million-liter saltwater aquarium, surrounded by habitats representing the North Atlantic, Antarctic, Temperate Pacific, and Tropical Indian Ocean. The journey unfolds on two levels, crossing temperate, tropical, and cold waters of different oceans. Notable installations include “Forests Underwater” and “ONE - The Sea as you’ve never felt it,” both celebrating oceanic beauty and connection with nature. The Oceanario is not just a spectacle; it actively promotes ocean education, research, and conservation efforts, collaborating with various institutions. Expert biologists and engineers ensure high-quality exhibitions and consulting services for aquariums worldwide.

Lovely trip to the Oceanario - Great trip visiting the Aquarium (joint ticket with the Telecabine). Lovely experience and it was very clean and welcoming. The restaurant was also great with lots to choose from as was the cafe near the shop. Well worth a visit.

Go early, but GO! - I had a great time here and it was exactly what I expected. It was the top of my list for my trip!! I should have probably gone a little earlier in the day, as I went around 2-3pm and it was crowded. This made it hard to get pictures, but it was still very nice to see everything and enjoy it. Species of the ocean that I had never seen before (Sharks!!) it was all so beautiful and very immersive, since it's basically under the ocean. Their gift store and cafe after the tour is where you can buy all kinds of items and trinkets. I recommend shopping there, as you'll help the fishies and there are many unique items. :) I highly recommend going to this when you're there, just try to go during non-peak hours to enjoy it more!!

Magic. Call for ecological awareness and environmental conservation. - Charming. Magic. I went at around 2 pm, medium queue, but it moved quickly. Then I took the cable car to see the view from the top. Show!

Great on a hot Lisbon Day - This was one of the highest rated things to do in Lisbon. It was very good ( but we have been to better aquariums). Large sharks and many different fish in the center aquarium. We went on a hot day so this was a perfect opportunity to try it out. Very good restaurant on the premises.

Environmental education in practice - It is impossible not to be impressed by the Lisbon Oceanarium. It is located in a revitalized region close to Estação Oriente, where trains leave for all directions of the country, and a metro station. A visit to the Oceanarium allows for a visual experience of the diversity of species on display. And even a poetic experience, through several paintings with verses about the sea. It is possible to see that there is a concern with environmental education. Visitors who have never visited an oceanarium will leave with an excellent impression.
