- R. José Franco Canas 1 - During the Pastel de Nata Workshop, we will show you how to make puff pastry like the pros do, make the custard from scratch and bake it all inside a professional oven. João will entertain us with stories about his life as a baker - feel free to ask him anything about Portuguese sweets!
In the end, we’ll eat the warm tarts Portuguese style, that is along with some coffee, while hanging out with the other participants.

This is Portugal’s exclusive culinary session where you’ll gain an understanding of pastry creation within a genuine, award-winning Portuguese bakery, a brief 30 min journey from Lisbon!
The session initiates with a briefing on Pastel de Nata’s historical background coupled with an overview of the family-owned bakery where this workshop is conducted.
Once equipped, you’ll step into João’s personal ‘pastelaria’ kitchen. This is where the secrets of baking the universally adored Portuguese Custard Tarts are revealed!
The preparation of professional-grade puff pastry will be demonstrated to facilitate your understanding. Subsequently, we’ll concoct the custard from scratch and bake everything in a professional-grade oven. Throughout this session, we maintain a team spirit. Every participant will have the opportunity to handcraft a minimum of 3 tarts – from applying the specific Pastel de Nata dough-spreading technique to filling up the custard.
Ultimately, we’ll relish the freshly baked, hot tarts complemented by a cup of coffee.
