Wonderful custom tour with Bruno and Portugal Unknown - My family (two adults, one four year old) had a very enjoyable day with Bruno from Portugal Unknown on a private tour. His company does tours out of Lisbon and Sintra to different spots based on your needs. It was a custom tour planned around on hitting spots that are harder to get to and also transferring our bags from Lisbon to Sintra. We stopped at Queluz National Palace and Mafra Convent, which were both gorgeous and off the beaten path. It was a much needed break from the crowds in the city. He also showed us an insider spot for seafood with an ocean view right by the coast, and took us through the towns of Ericeira and Cascais before depositing us at the door of our next hotel. Bruno was great company with his stories and history, and also gave us some very nice recommendations on what to see and do on the next leg of our trip.

Outstanding Experience with Portugal Unknown Tours - I highly recommend this tour and company. I have never worked with a more responsive company - they answered ALL of my questions so quickly during my planning and booking. Joao was our guide, and he was phenomenal! We learned so much about this history of Portugal, and was was so kind and patient with our children. He planned a great spot for lunch and also gave us tips for more things to do after the tour was over. Best money we have spent on vacation! We plan to do additional tours with this company when we return to Portugal in the future,

Great private day tour! - We got Victhor as a guide, and had a great day. He was a knowledgeable and patient guide. I picked places that I wanted to visit - we had a short stop at Sintra Old Town (and stopped by Casa Piriquita), followed by Pena Palace - it was the weekend and queues were long, so I opted not to tour the interior of the palace and just explored the outside terraces. We then headed to Quinta da Regaleira and went down the Initiation Well, and in the late afternoon stopped at Praia das Azenhas do Mar (a beautiful viewpoint), Cabo da Roca, and passed by Cascais (a 5 min picture stop) before heading back to Lisbon.

Private day trip through Sintra - Wonderful day trip through Sintra region. Bruno did a great job creating an itinerary that let us see many sights, and was very knowledgeable about the region an history. Highly recommend!

Enjoy gorgeous Sintra with a local guide! - Our party included me and three sons ages 10, 13 and 20. Bruno picked us up in Graca and drove us to Sintra, talking on the drive about his education and growing up in Portugal, which I enjoyed hearing about. Sintra is his hometown and it's beautiful. He knew where to park, how to approach the different monuments, took us to a wonderful lunch spot (possibly our favorite of our trip) and even got us the local specialty pastries in town as we walked up to the Regaleira. We saw Montserrate Palace (my favorite) which was small and extremely beautiful, both inside the palace and the grounds outdoors. Then we drove to the coast, which ws much like our coast in Oregon so not so exciting. I really enjoyed the drive, though, through the eucalyptus trees. After lunch in town, we saw the Quinta da Regaleira which was very very crowded but the children really liked the many staircases, level changes in the garden and the mystic old feeling to it (even though it's not so old!). We were going to see Silves Castle but it was already closed when we arrived (we had pokey kids so the afternoon was a bit slower than expected). But Bruno bought our Silves tickets off us so no loss. We had such a lovely day. Bruno was great company, it was never awkward to spend the day with him and such a great experience for all of us to spend it with a local. Sintra is a really lovely city, and I wish we had had more time. I recommend only two monuments, and spend some time enjoying a long lunch and a stroll around the town. This was my first guided tour ever, and I'm an avid traveler, but was well worth the effort to plan and the money.

A fantastic day! - We had a fantastic day with Joao touring Sintra and Cascais. He provided the perfect amount of history and easy going conversation throughout the day. He was very knowledgable about the areas we were touring and provided tips that made for a very smooth day. The lunch we had at the restaurant Joao recommended was delicious and authentically Portuguese. We were in very good hands all day. I wish we would have booked all of our tours with Joao and Portugal Uknown! We highly recommend them!

Had the best day with Joao Lopes as our private guide - We spent the day touring Sintra, Pena Palace and Cascais with Joao Lopes as our guide. He went above and beyond to make our day enjoyable and his knowledge of the area was impressive. Every detail of our day was executed so well and we really enjoyed getting to know Joao. I would highly recommend Portugal Unknown Tours and Joao Lopes.

Business trip with colleagues from Czech and Slovakia - We were there with my colleagues and we were invited by one of our supplier who organized everythingg include an excellent private guide Bruno. I would reccommend him for everyone for many reasons, he was very kind, smart and clever, very friendly and he knew a reply for everything, he had a really perfect knowledge about history and Portugal and you can feel that he love his work. When I come back to Pprtugal, I will contact him for any reccomendations and also for a friendly visit and lunch. The trip was great, especially Sintra and coast, amazing view and landscape.
