Highlights

Leaving London, we journey into the Oxfordshire countryside, arriving in Oxford, the “City of Dreaming Spires,” by midmorning. This historic city features over a thousand listed buildings from every significant period of British history since the 11th century. As we explore, you’ll discover that Oxford is a magical place, brimming with mystery and wonder. It’s no surprise that the city has inspired many renowned writers and filmmakers over the years.

Your guide will lead you through the city, showcasing major attractions such as the University of Oxford, which comprises 38 colleges, and the Bodleian Library. If you wish, we can visit Carfax Tower, located at the northwest corner of Carfax. The Tower is the last remnant of the 13th-century St. Martin’s Church and is now considered the city’s center. The name “Carfax” comes from the French “carrefour,” meaning “crossroads.” Your guide will explain this and more as you pass each landmark, and of course, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to take photographs.

Why not climb to the top of the spire at St Mary the Virgin Church, the largest of Oxford’s parish churches? St Mary’s boasts one of the most beautiful spires in England and an eccentric baroque porch. If you climb to the top, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views across this historic university city. Your guide will also show you Radcliffe Square, the Radcliffe Camera, Brasenose College, and All Souls College.

There’s so much to see in the city, but don’t just take our word for it—come and experience the tour for yourself. After spending a few hours in Oxford, we’ll head into the Cotswolds for lunch at a 300-year-old British pub. Following lunch, we’ll drive to the churchyard at Bladon, where Winston Churchill is buried. A short drive from here brings us to Blenheim Palace, home to the 12th Duke of Marlborough and the birthplace of Winston Churchill. Blenheim Palace was built between 1705 and 1722 to celebrate victory over the French in the War of the Spanish Succession. You can choose to stay and visit the palace (entry fees not included) or continue our journey through the Cotswold villages. We’ll visit a selection of villages such as Burford, Stow-on-the-Wold, Bampton, Moreton-in-Marsh, and The Slaughters, time permitting.

We’ll stop to learn the history of each village we visit, and why not enjoy an English Cream tea before returning to London?

This is a fantastic, friendly, family-fun day tour.

Cotswolds is charming - Andrew our guide was outstanding. He knowledge of the history was educational. He was full of facts and very entertaining. The car was horribly uncomfortable. We were 4 Sisters and the back seat was small. And the 4 th Seat was one a gold down seat that faced backwards. Terrible. Horrible. Disappointing.
