Highlights
  • Guildhall - This hour long walking tour in Derry will also retrace parts of the original march and visit places where the dead and wounded fell. The Bogside History Tour will examine the political and social repercussions of Bloody Sunday. The tour will pass ‘The Museum of Free Derry’ and conclude at the Bloody Sunday monument within sight of Free Derry corner and beneath the city walls of Derry.

The Bogside (Irish: Taobh an Bhogaigh) is a neighbourhood outside the city walls.. The large gable-wall murals by the Bogside Artists, Free Derry Corner and the Gasyard Féile (an annual music and arts festival held in a former gasyard) are popular tourist attractions. The area has been a focus point for many of the events of the Troubles; in 1969, a fierce three-day battle known as the Battle of the Bogside became a starting point of the Troubles.

  • Free Derry Corner - The tour will pass ‘The Museum of Free Derry’ and conclude at the Bloody Sunday monument within sight of Free Derry corner and beneath the city walls of Derry

Fabulous informative tour - Peadar (sorry if I’ve butchered the spelling of that) was such a brilliant informative guide. For what was a difficult tour at parts he did have us laughing along the way. It was great to hear it from a first hand account of someone who was in the bogside at the time. Definitely not a tour to miss and I would highly recommend it. The tour starts at the guildhall and I would recommend going in and having a wee look at the brief exhibit on the plantation of ulster to understand about the history of Derry if you didn’t know before. I will definitely be back in Derry and I would 100% do this tour again. Victoria, Glasgow

Buy ticket in person to a great tour - Advice to travelers: purchase directly from the guide. The tour meets each day at Guildhall at 11:00 and 13:00. TripAdvisor over charges. In person you will pay 10£. Review: The tour guide was super great. Very knowledgeable and had first hand experience to share. The insight, though sad to hear created awareness and understanding for victims of tyranny.

Great tour! - This was the absolute best part of our trip to Ireland. Jim Toye took us on an amazing and moving tour while sharing with us his recount of what he lived through on Bloody Sunday and the Troubles. A great value for an invaluable lesson in history.

The recent history of Derry, with an accent - Great way to discover the recent history of Derry and Bloody Sunday, with an experienced guide who is the owner of the tour company, and who will give you a nice taste of the "Derry girls" accent.

Recommended tour very good value for money - Very good walking tour by someone that lived it: not the most impartial guide but you'll definitely have an authentic and passionate experience with him. Not a long walk (very accessible), lots of stories and anecdotes told. Definitely cheaper than the other tours, so very good value for money Very recommended!
