LA Trip 8/24 - Although we would have preferred more time at the Griffith Observatory over Hollywood Blvd, the tour was made great by Alana who safely navigated us through the full day tour offering tips, cool tidbits of the area and good music in a knowledgeable and friendly way!

Tour not as described, driver kept asking for money and missed all the key stops that were advertised. - The tour was not as described. We drove past some famous spots but didn’t stop- so if you are on the left side of the bus you won’t see it. We firstly stopped at Rodeo drive for 20 minutes which wasn’t on the advertisement. Santa Monica (1 hour stop) We then went to Santa Monica beach with a 1 hour stop- we were lift to our own devices. Farmer Market (1 hour stop) We went to the Farmers Market for 1 hour- but it was so busy you pretty much spent the whole time queuing for food. We were again left to our own devices. Griffith Observatory (1 hour stop) We had only 20 minutes here so by the time you climbed the steps to the top it was then time to leave again. There was no time to go in and see the exhibits. We were again left to our own devices. Walk of Fame (1 hour stop) This didn’t happen- we drove past it but if you are on the left side of the bus you didn’t see it. We didn’t visit Grauman’s Chinese Theatre or Dolby Theatre- it wasn’t even talked about. And we didn’t see the stars or the handprints because we didn’t stop. There also wasn’t a hotel pick up service as advertised- we had to meet at the shop in Hollywood. The tour guy was really trying but he kept saying LA was fake which was off putting. He also asked for a $10-20 tip off each person- he made a point of saying to was from each person too and not just a group. He gave everyone a carton drink, nuts and a chocolate bar…but made it clear that he did it for the $10 tip each. He even said there was no excuse for not giving a minimum $10 tip because he was taking us to where there were cash points and had codes to do bank payments. It was awkward and weird and wasn’t worth the tip. He spoke a lot about his failing acting career, saying how LA is fake and just for the movies, and then spoke about celebrities deaths and how people go there to die. I went on a lot of tours in America, apart from the beach stop…this one was a waste of 7 hours.
