Highlights
  • Louhossoa - We will pass the border to France and will drive inland to Louhossoa.
We will stretch the legs, walk around, visit some interesting corners and pass by an amazing artisan cookie shop.

There is about 40 minutes drive to the stop.

  • Espelette - Once we start getting close to the pyrene mountain range we arrive at Espelette, one of the nicest villages in France.
Strolling through the streets of this village is a real pleasure. Peppers hang from its picturesque houses, creating a postcard that is hard to forget

In this village, there is a lot to see and taste. We love visiting the local vendor and trying the local charcuterie, the artisan cheese from the Pyrenees, their famous Espelette pepper and its derivatives, cherries, artisan beer, and more.

We will also visit its street, the amazing Saint Etienne church, the cemetery, and the amazing and picturesque architecture in general. Later we will be able to enjoy a farm-to-table lunch in a familiar restaurant around (where they produce their own charcuterie, meat, and cheese).

There is about 20 minutes drive to the stop.

  • Sare - Sare is a beautiful village border with Spain.
Learn about the past of the village, the smugglers’ story, more secrets, and which is the most famous dessert. You will also learn about the Jai Alai sport and handball.

There is about 10 minutes drive to the stop.

  • Ainhoa - Founded in the 13th century, Ainhoa was built to welcome and help pilgrims on the way to Santiago de Compostela.

This small town has practically one large street, with 700 inhabitants, and is located exactly between Le Nive valley and the Navarre border, combining the green of its hills with the white and red facades of its old houses of the XVII century. Let´s walk the street, take some amazing pictures and get to know some local anecdotes.

There is about 20 minutes drive to the stop.

  • Bera - There is no better way to enter to Spanish border than passing by the village of Bera, a typical Navarrees village, with its singular architecture we will be able to stop and admire these elegant and unique houses.

Piglets! - Seeing the pig farm was a wonderful introduction to an authentic and bio-friendly clean food source. The host of the family there was a lovely person and a spectacular cook. Worth every Euro and the travel time to get there!

Basque Countryside and pig farm tour. - Traveling in the Basque region with Jon is an amazing experience. He is enthusiastic, charming and informative. Our day in the countryside visiting a sustainable pig farm we so incredibly special. The farm is humanely run and in a natural area where the pigs eat walnuts, acorns, and chestnuts. We had a delicious farm to table lunch in a beautiful farm house and it was an experience not to be forgotten. I highly recommend this tour.

Farm to Table pork lunch. - This was an amazing farm to table experience. Totally authentic and in a beautiful setting high in the mountains outside San Sebastián. The house we ate in I believe was from 1580. 13 generations of farmers. Jon also provided excellent back ground information. The food was delicious!!
