Highlights
  • Lourmarin - Recognized as one of France’s most picturesque villages, Lourmarin features charming Provençal tiled houses. This medieval village, established around the year 1000, boasts a stunning Renaissance-style castle from the 15th and 16th centuries. During this era, Lourmarin experienced the religious wars, and from the castle terrace, you can see both the Catholic church’s bell tower and a 19th-century Protestant temple. Tragically, 3000 Protestants were killed in the Luberon during these conflicts. The renowned writer Albert Camus once lived in Lourmarin, and his grave is located in the village cemetery.
  • Chateau de Lourmarin - Dating back to the 15th-16th century, the Lourmarin castle is a Renaissance masterpiece open to visitors. You can explore its interiors and architectural wonders. A beautiful terrace at the castle’s entrance offers a breathtaking view of the medieval village, especially adorned with blooming roses in May. Entry fee: 8€/pp.
  • Marche de Lourmarin - Lourmarin hosts one of the region’s most delightful markets. If our visit falls on a Friday, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the market and discover local products such as olives, tapenades, candied garlic, dry sausage, regional goat cheeses, country bread, seasonal fruits and vegetables, Provençal herbs, fruit jellies, honey, nougat, and Camargue sea salt. Street musicians enhance the market’s unique atmosphere.
  • Bonnieux - Situated in the northern Luberon, Bonnieux offers panoramic views of the mountain range and the Calavon valley. Here, you can experience the mistral, Provence’s iconic wind, and see century-old cedars and a 12th-century chapel at the village’s peak.
  • Roussillon - Known as one of France’s most beautiful villages, Roussillon is the most colorful in Provence due to its ocher pigment. The village features ocher quarries where the pigment was extracted in the 18th century. Today, Roussillon presents a unique spectacle with its red and orange hues contrasting with the surrounding forests. All village houses are painted with this pigment, and the ocher quarries are open to visitors.
  • Le Sentier Des Ocres De Roussillon - These 18th-century ocher quarries are open to the public. Visitors can explore them, though they may close during rain or storms. It’s advisable to check the schedule before visiting. Tip: Avoid wearing white shoes as they may turn orange. Entry fee: €3.5/pp.
  • Gordes - Gordes has been named the most beautiful village in the world by an American travel magazine in 2023. As you approach, a magnificent view unfolds from a stone balcony. A stroll through the picturesque streets is highly recommended, and don’t miss the fountain in the castle square. The film “Happy New Year” was filmed here.
  • Gordes Castle - With a history spanning over 1000 years, this castle is at the heart of the village, surrounded by typical Provençal houses. It hosts temporary exhibitions throughout the year, which visitors can explore. Entry fee: 6€/pp.
  • Caves du Palais Saint Firmin - Located in Gordes, this unique museum offers a glimpse into the medieval villagers’ workspaces. Craftsmen had to set up their workshops in the basements of houses, creating cavities in the rock that form the floors. These impressive cavities reveal the daily life and challenges faced by Gordes’ craftsmen. Entry fee: 6€/pp.
