Highlights
  • Royal Palace Museum - The Royal Palace in Luang Prabang, also known as “Haw Kham” or the “Golden Palace,” was once the residence of Laos’ royalty. Situated on the banks of the Mekong River and facing Mount Phousi, the palace is home to numerous historical artifacts with fascinating stories. A visit to the Royal Palace offers a deeper understanding of Lao history and culture.
  • Wat Mai Suwannaphumaham - Walk to Wat Mai, a temple famous for its golden bas-relief, and Wat Sensoukarahm, which boasts a stunning golden façade. Conclude the morning tour at Wat Xieng Thong, the most venerated temple in Luang Prabang. Located at the peninsula’s tip near the Mekong, this temple was constructed in 1560 by King Setthathirat and is adorned with intricate carvings and mosaics.
  • Wat Sop Sickharam Luang Prabang - Visit Wat Visoun, the city’s most sacred temple, which was completely rebuilt in 1887 after being destroyed by the Black Flags from Southern China. In the courtyard of Wat Visoun stands the Watermelon Stupa, named for its fruit-like shape.
  • Wat Aham - Pass by Wat Aham, originally built in the 1500s, and proceed to Wat That, where the ashes of King Sisavang Vong are enshrined in the large central stupa.
  • Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre - This museum is dedicated to showcasing the rich diversity of Laos’ ethnic minorities. Traditional costumes, tools, and artifacts are displayed alongside detailed descriptions and written histories, offering a great opportunity to learn about the Lao people (note: closed on Mondays).
  • Mount Phousi - Climb the 328 steps of Mount Phousi to watch the sunset over the city and surrounding hills, then explore the hill-tribe evening market for some shopping. This vibrant market takes place every evening around 5pm along the town’s main streets and is an excellent spot for souvenir hunting.

Mr Vong, our guide, was very knowledgeable and took pride in showing us a bit of his country and people. Bravo Indo china was very responsive to our needs and customised the tour as we were travelling with our 3 year old. Great lunch at one of the prettiest locations that we have came across yet. A must do</p>
