Highlights
  • Temple of Karnak - At approximately 5:00 a.m., your tour guide will pick you up in a comfortable, air-conditioned minibus. A knowledgeable German-speaking Egyptologist will join the group. The journey to Luxor takes about 4 hours, passing through the Nile valley with views of fields and farmers’ homes. This excursion is conducted in a small group, with a maximum of 8 participants. Your guide will be available throughout the trip to answer any questions. Upon arrival in Luxor, our first stop will be the Karnak Temple, the largest temple complex in Egypt, located on the eastern bank of the Nile. One of the most significant areas of the temple is the large columned hall. The complex is divided into three walled sections: the Amun area (ancient Egyptian Ipet-sut, “place of election”), the Month area, and the Courage area. The oldest visible remains of the temple date back to the 12th dynasty under Sesostris. The temple complex was expanded and rebuilt multiple times until the Roman Empire. Notable among the ruins are the temples of Amun-Re with its ten pylons. You will also see the sacred lake, measuring 120 × 77 meters, located south of the central temple building and fed by groundwater. Admire the large columned hall, statues, pylons, and obelisks.
  • Valley of the Kings - After lunch, we will drive to the Valley of the Kings, situated about 5 kilometers northwest of Luxor. In ancient Egypt, the Valley of the Kings was known as the “Sechet-aat large field.” The valley contains over 70 tombs carved into the rock, primarily the tombs of rulers from the New Kingdom (circa 1550 to 1069 BC) of the 18th to 20th dynasties. To protect the mummies, they were relocated in the 22nd dynasty and hidden in other tombs. In 1922, the largely intact tomb of Tutankhamun was discovered. Systematic exploration and excavation of the tombs began with Napoleon’s expedition to Egypt. The Valley of the Kings is a major tourist attraction in Egypt. Only a portion of the tombs is open to visitors, as some are closed for conservation. Since December 2009, photography and filming have been prohibited, but since 2018, photography without flash is allowed with the purchase of a photo permit for around 15 euros.
  • Colossi of Memnon - After visiting the Karnak temple complex, we will proceed to the famous Colossi of Memnon. Known in Arabic as “el-Colossat or es-Salomat,” these two adjacent statues date back to the 14th century and depict King Amenophis III seated on a throne, facing the Nile. The statues stand approximately 18 meters high, including the base.
  • Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari - Our final stop will be the terrace temple complex of Hatshepsut. Hatshepsut, an ancient Egyptian queen of the 18th dynasty, reigned from 1479 to 1458 BC. Her spouse was Thutmoses II. The name Hatshepsut means “The first of the noble women who embraced Amun.” The entire temple is constructed of limestone and is the best-preserved temple on the west bank in Thebes. At around 4:00 p.m., we will begin our return journey, bringing you back to your hotel with wonderful and memorable experiences.

A true experience - The trip was a dream from start to finish! We were picked up by our drivers Halil and Walid at the agreed time in the hotel lobby and then our journey began early in the morning towards Luxor. We were given a very warm welcome and the day's schedule was explained to us in very good German. The two of them drove very calmly and with foresight, so that we were able to get some sleep without worrying. Every 1.5 - 2 hours we took a short break at gas stations/rest areas with decent toilets. During the drive to Luxor, our driver Halil explained a lot of what we were about to see, told us about Egypt and daily life. He really had a feel for what we found interesting and what we wanted to hear more about. When we arrived in Luxor, our tour guide Mohamed joined us. He also introduced himself in very good German and immediately seemed very personable. He then led us through the amazing sights for the rest of the day and explained everything with a lot of expertise and a bit of humor. He kept us away from the huge tour groups and often told us something in a shady spot, as it was already very hot in places. Overall, the trip in the small tour group was well worth it and we didn't regret the small extra cost compared to mass tourism with a tour bus. Everyone looked after us very well, constantly offered us cool water and soft drinks and the lunch in Luxor was also very tasty. Thank you very much :)

Private trip to Luxor - We had an unforgettable day trip to Luxor today with our guide Nasch and our driver Carlos. Carlos picked us up punctually at just before 5 at our hotel in Hurghada and drove us quickly and safely to Luxor and back. During the day he provided us with plenty of cool drinks and was always polite and professional. The extremely knowledgeable Nasch led us through various sights in Luxor and adapted the itinerary to our wishes. His passion for ancient Egypt and hieroglyphs was infectious and we learned countless exciting facts. If you are looking for a private excursion option away from mass tourism, this is definitely the place for you!

Perfect day tour from Soma Bay to Luxor with Egyptologist Nasch - We had booked a day trip from Soma Bay to Luxor for April 21, 2024 in a small group of up to six people with Zakharious Tours. Fortunately, we received a free upgrade to a private tour, so that our driver Carlos drove just us all day in a comfortable, air-conditioned car. We were picked up at the hotel on time and then - after a short stopover in Safaga to complete the official requirements for the overland trip to Luxor - we set off. Chilled drinks were available during the trip. In Luxor, our extremely skilled and fluent German-speaking tour guide, the Egyptologist Nasch, got on. He accompanied us throughout our entire stay in Luxor, responded to all of our requests, made helpful recommendations and provided us with extremely comprehensive and well-founded historical and scientific background information at all of the destinations included in the excursion price. By structuring the day, he ensured that we did not have to wait at the excursion points. The trip on the Nile by motorboat was extremely refreshing. Coffee or tea was served with it. The Egyptian lunch was delicious and plentiful. After we said goodbye to Nasch at the end of our stay in Luxor, our driver Carlos provided us with snacks and other drinks for the return trip to Soma Bay before we returned to our hotel in the afternoon with many new impressions. We can only recommend the Egyptologist Nasch Wärmsteins, as well as the driver Carlos. The organization by Zakharious Tours was impeccable, the pricing fair and transparent. We will be happy to consider Zakharious Tours again on our next stay in the Hurghada region.

Great informative trip - We went on a day trip with Zakharious Tours on Good Friday. Early in the morning we were picked up at the hotel by two drivers and driven safely to Luxor, where Naschaat Obaid got on and we planned our day with him. We visited the Luxor Temple, the Valley of the Kings and the most beautiful temple in Luxor (I'm sorry Nasch, but I forgot the name). Our guide not only speaks perfect German, he is also an Egyptologist and hieroglyphic teacher. He passionately provided us with information all day long, our sons were delighted. Thank you Nasch for this wonderful day, may God protect you. You always meet twice in life.

Unforgettable tour to Luxor and the royal tombs - My son and I took part in the tour to Luxor, the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Hatshepsut. Our driver picked us up from the hotel on time and provided us with lots of interesting information about the lives of the people, their culture and everyday life throughout the journey from Hurghada to Luxor. Our guide Mohammed met us in front of the Karnak temple complex in Luxor. Throughout the tour he organised the entrance tickets and led us to the sights without any waiting time. Beforehand there was a comprehensive introduction to the history of the temple complex. Hieroglyphs, royal cartouches and the chronological classification of history brought the Karnak temple back to life before our eyes. We then crossed the Nile to a cosy restaurant for lunch. A welcome refreshment before we continued on to the Valley of the Kings. The visit to the royal tombs was also an unforgettable experience for us. Our guide explained the various books of the dead that are reproduced on the walls of the tombs. His extensive knowledge seemed inexhaustible and questions were gladly accepted and answered. After visiting the Hatshepsut Temple, our driver brought us safely back to Hurghada. We had an unforgettable day and the many impressions of the tour will stay with us for a long time.

Thanks to Naashat a fantastic day in Luxor - A fantastic day with our private guide Naaschat Obaid. A trained Egyptologist with incredible knowledge that can also be traced back to his family history. Grandpa, father and he are part of Egyptian history and have taken part in excavations themselves. But let him tell you about it himself. He gave us such an incredible insight into the writing, its origins and everything Egyptian that the day flew by. Right at the start he suggested deviating from the standard in order to have more peace and quiet during the tours. And what can we say, we were alone at the Luxor Temple!!!, in the Valley of the Kings at exactly the time when everyone else was having lunch, so we went into the tombs without a single person in front of us. And in the Habo Temple we were almost alone again. He's just got it. Thank you so much, dear Naaschat, for this incredible experience of getting to know you. Our Marlon will never forget it either. All the best to you.
