In the top ! - We had read good reviews on the tour offered by Mohamed, so we opted for this one (All in a small group max 8 without compulsory shopping) The day started with a pick-up from our hotel at 5am. And the surprise, upgrade by car because it was just the two of us😊 Here we go for a private visit with Mohammed and his driver Mahmoud to take us there😍. Comfortable car. 4 hours of driving with a stop in the middle to relax a little. Then arrived in Luxor after crossing quite a few villages which allowed us to see local life on the banks of the Nile. Visit to the Karnak temple where Mohammed will explain to us with great knowledge of the subject the history of the temple and the Dynasties. We immediately notice the passion he has for the history of ancient Egypt and we devour his words. Then free time to walk around the temple and take a few photos. Crowded but still quite reasonable. We leave for the Nile for a short boat crossing (included in the package). Our guide will kindly ask us if we would like to see a papyrus factory but without obligation. As we were not more inclined than that we declined and continued without feeling any pressure. Arrived at the boat and there were two of us with Mohammed and the captain who would make me sail the boat while singing 😊 So great! On the other side, stop at an Egyptian restaurant where we will taste a succulent Tagine in a pretty setting. Service and food +++. Then departure for the colossi of Memnon, explanation upstream in the car and stop to take a photo there. Given the heat which is starting to be very strong and the street sellers being very aggressive, it was not bad to anticipate the explanations in advance 😉 A word of advice, stay firm with the sellers, they chased us until the car ! We took a resin bauble to please, mistake, so they absolutely wanted to sell us others. Then we head back to the Valley of the Kings where we will visit 3 places to choose from but Mohammed will advise us on the most interesting ones. The guides cannot enter the tombs so explanations are done in advance. So we come back with lots of questions that our guide takes pleasure in answering. Once again we really see the passion he has towards the history of ancient Egypt. We leave the valley of the kings for the temple of Hashepsout, the last stop on our journey. The heat is overwhelming even at the beginning of April and climbing the steps of the temple is an ordeal in itself under this dodger 😂 Same on the way back, crossing a small shopping arcade at the bottom of the temple where we are rather disappointed because of the aggressiveness of the few sellers circulating in the middle of the aisle makes us abandon the idea of buying a small souvenir. Back in the car and Mohammed asks us if we are interested in going to see an alabaster factory and the store. We are finally happy with his proposal since we wanted a little souvenir and we were not able to buy one. So go for a small family farm. Nice, interesting and we buy our little souvenir. Then return to Hurghada, very tired after this day but enriched by what we have seen and heard. Thanks to Mohammed and Mahmoud for this welcome and this discovery 😍 Do not hesitate to choose this mode of visit, certainly a little more expensive than those offered to you from 30/40 EUR but with lots of extras and a bus trip which takes much longer. Here everything is included and you are in private mode which is significant.

Amazing Tour! Amazing Mohammed! - What an amazing day. We were bumped up to VIP tour, which could have been a disaster as my girlfriend & I like to blend into a group 😂. We were so wrong Mohammed immediately put us at ease. He strikes the balance between great guide & great host. His knowledge of Egyptian history is delivered with fantastic ease & humour. He brings the stories of old to life. The tour itself is brilliant & allowed us to see everything we wanted at our own pace. Our driver (so sorry cannot remember his name) was brilliant. Navigating the busy roads & long journey with ease. The little trip on the Nile was great & Mohammed’s recommendation to do a mile cruise is now on our travel list. The restaurant we had for lunch was the best we had our whole journey. We were treated to the most delicious authentic Egyptian food. If you are doing any tour, please use Mohammed, we can’t thank him enough!!

Trip of the Kings, a tut a l’heure! - Enjoyed our day in Luxor. Booked the small group no shopping trip. Turned out that no other party joined so in fact we had a private tour. Minivan, two drivers and our guide Mohammed just for the four of us. As a private tour the day was very efficiënt. After a fun and interesting visit to Karnak our driver was waiting when we walked out and in 10 minutes or so we were on a boat to the west bank. Authentic Egyptian lunch was a highlight and our young teens loved it. For the kids this was a first dive into Egyptian history and they really enjoyed the day. Why this tour? As it is (semi)private you do not waste any time. You leave later than most tours and we were even back at our Hurghada hotel with time to spare for dinner. Plus we got to avoid the Alabaster and Papyrhus shopping which for us is dodging the Pharaohs’ curse. Thanks again Mohammed.

Amazing tour guide and experience - This my second time booking with Mohammed for the luxor trip, as brilliant as always. This is a private tour with max group of 8, however we got lucky due to no bookings on the day and was fully private. I would highly recommend to book with Mohammed, as he is very professional and courteuos and is very knowledagble as an egyptologist. If you come to hurghada and want to experience history of Egypt, book this tour and pay the money. IT IS WORTH IT!

Wonderful experience - I recommend the tour with Mohammed. I read many reviews and searched a lot beforehand, bearing in mind that it is a long road, with many objectives, it can quickly become more tiring than pleasant. And yes, this tour is totally worth it, the organization is perfect, with an incredible driver taking into account the traffic, we left and arrived back as scheduled. Enough breaks to enjoy everything, very fun Nile cruise and an authentic launch place. In addition, Mohammed is a dedicated guide, with a lot of knowledge and a sense of humor to appreciate. Thanks for the experience!

An amazing day out with an honest company and enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide - We took a fantastic private day trip with our guide Momen and driver Mohamed from Hurghada to Luxor, but before going into all the great details I want to cover some of the context before we booked this trip and the not-so-great aspects we dealt with (good news: none of this applies to YourTourGuide!) When reading about trips you'll often find issues (I'll add annotate the issues with minus and our experiences with pluses): - Tourist-traps: a lot of tours will take you to places that will do a hard-sell and try to rip you off, because the guide gets a kick-back for bringing in easy marks. Obviously this isn't nice, but in some ways it's a get-what-you-pay-for deal; some trips are cheaper than others and the cheap ones are subsidized by getting access to your wallet in this way. We consider this dishonest, but most of all we consider it a waste of time, and time is really at a premium in a day trip that starts at 5am! Personally I think it's worth paying a little more for a decent honest guiding service - and it really isn't much extra, $30 maybe, for that extra time. Mohammed from YourTourGuide listened to us, understood that we didn't want any of that time-wasting , and did a brilliant job of booking us an itinerary. - Disinterested guide: I get it, even these amazing sights get boring after a while, and the guide has got new tours to book in the coming days/weeks so it makes some sense to use that time to be on the phone booking in new guests. + Momen was present with us all the time we were with him, he's obviously fascinated by the history and revels in communicating and describing this lost world to guests. As someone who fulfilled his childhood dream to study Egyptology and later worked on dig sites as a volunteer he has a huge well of enthusiasm for this topic and it's wonderful to be able to benefit from this! - Inflexibility and arriving at peak times: with the big group tours you're at the mercy not only of where most people want to go, but also the timetable that accommodates other guests wasting time (I know this is subjective!) on things you're not interested in, or getting lost, or whatever people end up doing that drains time out of your day. The companies have to allow time for that stuff so they are constrained in building a timetable which ultimately means a limited set of destinations. + Mohammed and Momen were really flexible - they took into account the things we wanted to see and what we didn't. Because we were on a private tour it was only us making those decisions. This meant we were able to see more, spend more time at the places we found most interesting, and visit extra tombs that are not included on the ticket price. Speaking of extra tombs, we paid for all of the entry tickets as part of the tour price, and then paid at the counter for extras both at the Valley of the Kings (extras: Ramesses V & VI, Seti I) and at Valley of the Queens (extra: Queen Nefertari). This was all really transparent - the prices are all up on the boards at the counter and we were ready with our choices after reading up on a few websites listing the various tombs. At each location Momen enthusiastically provided detail on what we were about to see, and in the non-tomb locations was able to come along and give detail as we wandered around in awe of these ancient constructions and decorations, giving us translations, stories, and perspective on what we saw around us. In summary then: YourTourGuide and Momen come strongly recommended from our day with them. They're honest, enthusiastic and knowledgeable - everything you could want in a tour guide!

Appalling experience at the ‘Alabaster factory’ - Having booked with the same company for the hurghada to cairo trip we felt comfortable in rebooking the hurghada to luxor trip. The itinerary itself was as expected. However the stop at the Alabaster factory really did spoil our trip. Having already visited the perfume shop and papyrus shop we felt prepared for the alabaster shop visit understanding of the fact it is a tourist trap. My partner said he would still like to participate in the shopping aspect of the tour. What we weren't expecting was the level of aggression directed towards us at the reluctance to participate in a sale. Disappointingly our tour guide seemed more concerned with prioritising a sale as opposed to our wellbeing. The whole experience was quite shocking and really left a bitter taste for the remainder of the day. I don’t think aggression of any kind should be accepted as part of any tour stop and the wellbeing of tour participants really needs to be of the upmost priority - I hope nobody else is subjected to this in the same way we were.
