- Mountain House - It’s our pleasure to invite you to join us on an adventure to the summit of Pico Mountain! This is the most iconic and memorable experience in the Azores, ideal for those in good physical shape, even if you’ve never been mountaineering before.
Our meeting point will be at Casa da Montanha at 1200m where we’ll conduct a briefing with the entire group, go over the necessary equipment, and distribute our trackers before we embark on our roughly 7-hour journey to the peak at 2351 meters and back.
The trail is about 8km long and is entirely on volcanic rock with an average incline of 30%, offering challenging elevation changes.
In the initial segment of the trail, significant changes in breathing patterns and/or a lack of balance are warning signs, as they are indicative of the steepness and terrain type we will encounter over the next few hours on Pico Mountain, and it may suggest that the participant is not fit for the activity.
Participants over 60 years old or children under 12 are not included in the groups, please request a private activity at a different rate.
