Highlights
  • Prado National Museum - Begin your journey at the Prado, Spain’s answer to the Louvre. As one of the most frequented attractions globally, the Prado is a must-see on any Madrid itinerary. Located in an 18th-century neoclassical edifice, the Prado Museum showcases thousands of artworks from its extensive collection, ranging from the 1200s to the 1900s. Highlights include “Las Meninas” (The Maids of Honor), an innovative self-portrait by the Spanish artist Velázquez, and “The Garden of Earthly Delights,” a triptych by Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch. As you stroll through its halls, your expert guide will unveil the stories and secrets behind masterpieces by Goya, Fra Angelico, El Greco, Rembrandt, and others. Discover the largest collection of Italian masterpieces outside Italy, along with an impressive array of prints and sculptures.

  • Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia - After a lunch break, head to the Reina Sofia Museum, home to an exceptional collection of Spanish modern and contemporary art. Once part of a former hospital, the Reina Sofia was transformed into a gallery for 20th-century art in the 1990s. During this tour, your guide will introduce you to the various artistic movements represented here, such as abstractionism, cubism, surrealism, and modernism. Encounter works by the legendary Pablo Picasso, including his groundbreaking painting, “Guernica.” View pieces by Joan Miró, like “The Man with a Pipe,” and Salvador Dali’s “Face of the Great Masturbator,” while learning about the techniques and methods they employed to create their often whimsical artworks. Gain insight into the social and political movements that influenced these artists and their creations, including the Spanish Civil War. Depart with a deeper appreciation of 20th-century Spain, enabling you to navigate one of the world’s largest contemporary art collections with confidence.

Great Tour if Prado and Reina Sofia - Jaime was fantastic! He took us through both museums pointing out many pieces of art, while at the same time giving us lots of background and really interesting stories. We had lunch at a cafe in-between. The whole experience was like touring the museums with a friend in Madrid. I would highly recommend this tour and Jaime!

Prado Museum and Reina Sofia Tour - Enrique is the best tour guide I’ve ever had and I a am seasoned traveler. He makes spending three hours in a museum fun whether you are very interested in the history of the arts or just curious. He helps you connect the dots between different art periods, he loves his job, and he loves Madrid. Enrique has a vast knowledge of history and all his information is accurate, which is not always the case with many tour guides. I highly recommend Babylon Tours
