- Mae Kampong - Your guide will meet you at the hotel at 0730 for your Chiang Mai: Hiking the Forest Trails of Mae Kampong and Chaesorn National Park. Drive to Mae Kampong, a village in the mountains surrounding Chiang Mai.
Upon arrival in Mae Kampong, our local guide will meet us. By local truck we will drive up to the ranger station of Chaesorn National Park. Here we will start our trek up to the summit of Doi Mon Lan. It will take about one hour. The trail is not too steep. Pine trees and dipterocarp trees cover the area around the summit. It’s a beautiful mossy forest. First, we reach the lower peak and then the summit. At the top of the mountain, we will rest for a while and enjoy the spectacular view.
Then we start our descent. We pass several viewpoints on the way down to Mae Kampong. The forest is lush and pristine. Pace will be slow, so there is plenty of time for photo stops. We will enjoy a picknick lunch along the way. After we have reached Mae Kampong, there is time to explore the village and meet some of the villagers. Most of them are engaged in growing bai miang. Late in the afternoon, we return to Chiang Mai. We will drop you off at the hotel.

The journey begins and concludes at Mae Kampong. Situated approximately an hour’s journey from Chiang Mai, Mae Kampong is an exquisite mountain village. Located at an altitude of around 1300 meters, it enjoys year-round pleasant temperatures. The village is graced with a glittering stream. Driving from Chiang Mai to Mae Kampong only takes an hour. This village nestles in the heart of an unspoilt forest, part of a National Park spanning 592 square kilometers. The highest points in the park ascend to 2000 meters, with Doi Mon Lan being one of them, standing at an altitude of 1700 meters.
