There is no other place in the western hemisphere where you can float in this much salt water! Plus you get a fun boat ride full of great information about the area! The shorelines of the lake are full of bugs so being in the boat keeps you away from them while you swim/float!

Highlights
  • Great Salt Lake State Park - We will head out on our motorized pontoon boat and get some great views of the lake. We will also hear some entertaining stories and history of this world unique area along with a salty joke or two! We will have two stops in the lake where you will get to float in the lake a see how buoyant you are in the saltiest body of water in the western hemisphere. We will have spa pillows so you can lay back and feel total weightlessness or you can swim around. We will have bottled water and light snacks on board to keep hydrated along with buckets of fresh water to wash the salt off of your hands and face. Full showers are located at the marina in case you want to shower after the tour. There can be bugs in the air right when we leave the marina so we will provide you with a bee-keeper style hat to keep them away from your face. Once out on the lake, the bugs are gone. Bring a swimsuit, towel and some sunblock! We also don’t recommend shaving any body part before the tour to avoid stinging with the salt water.

Great thing to do in the afternoon! - We enjoyed the tour very much! It was interesting to hear all about the lake and it's history. We were able to get out and explore one shallow area, and also experience swimming in a deeper area which was very fun!

Always wanted to see and swim in the Great Salt Lake - Curiosity was my main reason for going. Was this Great Salt Lake as salty as the Dead Sea? (No, but close). I'd been to Salt Lake City several times and never even saw this 'Great Lake'. This time I was going to go! I went solo and had a good time. The other passengers were all nice, the tour guide/captain of the pontoon, Tyler, was charming and informative. I was glad I'd sprung for the 2 hour tour with swimming rather than the 45 minute tour only. We went out on the boat quite a bit from shore to swim and Tyler took pics of us floating on top of the salty lake. Then we went to a big sand bar in the middle of the lake. It seems gross, but all the 'debris' out there was actually dead casings from zillions of brine shrimp! All in all a great trip. Worth the money and interesting to do. Go for it!!

Don't Miss the Great Salt Lake Boat Tour with Swimming! - Had heard some negative things about the Great Salt Lake so on a trip to visit my son and his family, I decided to book a trip for us to check it out ourselves, including a swim. Our tour guide, Nate, was awesome. He was engaging, informative, and humorous. We stopped at a couple of different places. The first stop was on a beach where we enjoyed the sand, wading out in and endless shallow area with crystal clear water, and exploring the shoreline. The second was in an open water area, where we could actually experience our buoyancy in the lake. It was an amazing experience with my family and granddaughters, ages 4 and 8. An event we would do again and one we will not soon forget! Thank you, Nate!

Wonderful time floating in the salt lake!! - We loved this tour! It was our first time in salt lake city and we weren’t sure how to explore the lake. I highly recommend this tour as it gave a wonderful opportunity to swim (float) in the salt lake far away from t here coast. Our guide was super cool and made sure he stopped the boat twice for us to enjoy floating!

A two hour tour that is too quick - Wow is the word to describe. Tyler was super informative. Took us to sand bar, told us about the birds, the islands, the history and described how the sand form. Go on tour to learn about the minerals. Then we jumped in for an A swim. So much fun. A must do!

must do experience in SLC - cruise and float on the lake with an experienced guide - This tour is a must do in SLC. What a unique experience to be able to float on the Great Salt Lake. I'm from NJ and went with my husband and our 2 kids ages 8 & 10. We loved it, the kids loved it. Our tour guide Tyler was awesome. He's a local guide, so full of knowledge, funny, kind, and courteous. He took pics for us in the water on our phones. It's on a well-kept pontoon boat. We had no issues with bugs or funny smells - that's near the shoreline. The key to avoid that is to take a boat tour like this out in the middle of the lake to get the best experience. 100% recommend.
