Highlights
  • Taman Negara National Park - Taman Negara is a 130 million-year-old tropical rainforest, home to endangered animals such as tigers, elephants, and tapirs. It boasts 14,000 flowering plants, 300 bird species, and the elusive aborigines. Activities in Taman Negara include the Canopy Walkway (closed on Fridays), Jungle Trekking, and rapid shooting to visit the ethnic aborigines. The women shy away, the children smile, and the men ‘run’ away only to return with their fire-making and hunting tools for a ‘native’ demonstration. The rainforest serves as their supermarket. Waterfalls are natural wonders, with their trickles and ripples having a therapeutic calming and healing effect that reduces stress. Check-in. Free and easy. At 7 pm, embark on a night jungle walk to spot smaller animals such as mouse deer, spiders, scorpions, snakes, and black panthers foraging for food. At 8 pm, go on a Night Safari by 4WD using high-powered flashlights to look for civet cats, slow loris, and more. The night ambiance is an experience to remember and take home.
  • Cameron Highlands - At 7 am, visit Cameron Highlands, a hill resort with large tea plantations and farmlands, waterfalls, lakes, wildlife, endangered animals like tigers and elephants, Rafflesia (giant flower), and aborigines. Discovered by British Geologist Sir William Cameron in 1885, the tea plantations are a major draw for visitors. Take a stroll through the plantations for photo opportunities. They work closely with WWF in animal conservation. Enjoy sipping tea at an elevated tea cafe to get a bird’s eye view of the lush greenery! Beautiful butterflies and stick insects can be seen live at the Butterfly Farm, along with beetles, snakes, and scorpions. Walking down the Vegetable market to see a showcase of vegetables, fruits, and flowers grown in the Camerons is exciting. Complimentary dinner at the HOT POT. Traffic jams in Camerons are unavoidable.
  • Penang Island - Penang Island is a major tourist attraction. In addition to Malay, Chinese, and Indian communities, there are Eurasians, Siamese, and expatriate communities. Georgetown, the capital of Penang, is recognized by UNESCO as a heritage city due to British influence. Founded by Sir Francis Light in 1786 when he first landed in Fort Cornwallis, Penang is a high-tech manufacturing hub with trade incentives for foreign investments. The trishaw ride through Georgetown, the UNESCO heritage city, ending at Fort Cornwallis, is exciting. Complimentary Banana Leaf lunch. Drop off at the hotel. Penang is also known for its beautiful beaches, with Batu Feringghi being the most popular. It offers water sports, dining options, night markets, and luxury hotels along the beachfront. Please make your own arrangements for your next destination.
